Beautiful building. Easy to find. Not sure if you can go inside but certainly worthy of a few photos!

This really is a piece of old Warwick, having servived the fire in the 17th Century. The steps are steep of course, just take care, also some low beams, But really is something special. The one way system tales you around the walls with lovely views of Warwick and the countryside.
For TV buffs this is we’re Shakespeare and Hathaway have their offices, but these are not open, but you can look in.
The Breathen who live there with take delight in explaining it all.

I am so glad we explored this mediaeval building. The masters garden is a little piece of heaven and must provide a haven for our retired soldiers(The Brethren) including those who served in Afghanistan.Loved the Doric arch fronted by interestingly- shaped trees.

When you visit a location and have only got time to 'do' one attraction then I should like to suggest that you forget the Castle and visit this incredible building!
That's what we did, one Friday afternoon in early November, and we were not disappointed.
We were met at the door by one of the brethren and made to feel as though we'd made his day by visiting!
For £8.50 pp (including return visits for 12 months AND a FREE map/guide) we were astounded by the sheer history of the place, the atmosphere, the interesting artefacts and the brilliant Covid security.
The rooms open to the public were so interesting, as was the Chapel of St James the Great...the walk around the city walls to the Master's Garden and the Great Hall.
Visit this charming building, immerse yourself in its history. Be part of history albeit for a few hours - and come away refreshed in body and soul.
Oh, and you MUST visit the tea room...the cakes there are absolutely SCRUMMY!

This is a lovely interesting place to visit. Obviously there is so much history associated with the building and it's residents. The gardens are beautiful. Had a very interesting conversation with one of the brethren. Bought a few items from the small on site shop. Great hall serves as a cafe, didn't eat there, but it looked good. Not sure of exact date, but the site will be closing soon for refurbishment & repair for about 15 months. Well worth a visit

My friend and I had a couple of hours spare on our last day in Warwick so we decided to give this place a go. It was so interesting and beautiful. Chatted to a couple of the bretheran who live there and had a lovely lunch too. The cheese scone was delightful and baked on site.
Definitely worth a visit.

My husband and I have been working with the Lord Leycester Team since 2018. Our original wedding date was secured for 2020 but due to the pandemic was postponed to April 2021 and then July 2021.
Sheila, Max, Nick and the team have been exceptional. These guys are a problem- solving dream team. We have worked with them for so long they really do feel like extended family. Nothing is too great or too much trouble and everything is carried out with a warm smile. The building is breath taking as is the kindness and sincerity of the people who work there. The Brethren are amazing and we couldn't wait to share our big day with them.
Lord Leycester really is the unsung hero of Warwick and its majesty and beauty deserves every inch of praise it receives.

I seem to be getting a bit confused. Is it now a restaurant or does it function as a museum, or both? Is there an admission fee?

Yes it is a living museum (some parts dating back to 1300) as it is occupied by ex Service people (called the Master and Brethren) who also act as guides. There is an entrance fee and a separate (very good) cafe selling home made cakes etc.
