Last time I went it was unlimited ice skating and a game of bowling for £10 which you can't complain at, plus it came with a voucher for food.

Went here last week and from start to finish it was a bad decision. I was in Birmingham for business and as I have family there I took along my son with a couple of kids from the family to try out ice skating for the first time.
The lady on the front desk was the first member of staff that we encountered and she was swift but there was no interaction other than telling me the price and taking the money. The price isnt cheap either.
Next in you go to the "warehouse" and there is bowling and a few arcade machines downstairs but the ice skating is upstairs. As soon as you get to the stairs you know it is going to be a nightmare. Dingy, dirty and stinks are the only words you can describe it with.
You get into the ice skating part and it is so run down it is diabolical. We waited to get the hire skates, and we waited and we waited and finally along came a guy with a cup of coffee who said "size". I said hang on I will have to check as I knew when I started waiting here but that was a while ago so I will have to look again. He replied I cant be here all the time. Erm... is that not your job?
So the skates were ok and onto the ice we went. I used to go here when it was Planet Ice and loved it but now it is so run down it is beyond a joke. How it is still open I will never know, why it hasnt been closed down by health and safety is beyond me.
The rink has divets and is in such a bad state or repair it is dangerous. There is even one part of the boarding that goes round the side missing and if you go off here you will go flying into power tools and other building related materials that are in there.
I wont go back, not a chance as I value my own and my kids welfare.
Shame really as this place could be such an amazing place to visit but its so run down and neglected. Needs an awful lot of work to get anywhere near acceptable.

Had low expectations even a sense of dread taking my lad and his
mates to leisure box after reading the poor reviews.
So i was pleasantly surprised when i got there,it was clean and tidy and everything
was very much in working order well except some of the machines in the arcade.
Staff were friendly and helpful and the hire skates were in good order so no issues
Ice was maintained properly,lots of families there having a good time and obviously
there was the odd nusiance speed merchant which when needed to be dealt with
was sorted out by a senior member of staff.
My lad and his mates then went down to the bowling and this is where i left them
from reports by the lads everything was fine.They then went onto chinatown for
a meal.
Cheers for help making my sons 16th birthday a good and memorable one
and a father of a newly 16 year old son less stressed

I came here to give this place a low rating; after reading the other reviews of this place my experience felt like a ray of sunshine in comparison.
Positives: The staff at the front desk were friendly with us - as were the staff on the rink. Every time I fell over someone would come and check if I was ok. I also had an ice card which was buy one get one free on NYD so ended up spending £9 on skating for two people which I am now finding out is a bargain.
Negatives: The place was extremely dingy, the stairs smelt like p*** and it was generally quite badly kept. We went on new year's day so the hours were shorter but they didn't re-do the ice even once. There was a leak in the ceiling and together with the not-so-fresh ice they had a lot of puddles and melted ice which was a nightmare for the new skaters. I've been once before to solihull ice rink and it was so much better and cleaner. The ice skates too - they were broken but we got the feeling if we took them back to ask for different ones those would be broken too. My feet were killing me by the end of the day from a piece of plastic that was digging into my foot from the broken skate.
However, the staff were much more polite than the people in the other reviews experienced - I think if they weren't I would have been so much more disappointed in this day. Overall I think I got what I paid for - half the price of Solihull (£9-11) = half the quality?

I used to take my 11 year old quite often here and she enjoyed it, she liked the penguins to help her in the beginning to learn to balance and now can skate easily without them. Last time we went part of the ice rink was closed off in need of maintenance which meant there was not as much space as there used to be to skate as when i went when i was younger. Its not that cheap, but then if you consider you can, if you wanted to, stay from when it opens until closing time for £9 per person it doesn't sound as expensive

This place is an absolute disaster. Upon arrival, the security men act like bully boys when in actual fact all they do is flirt with the little under age girls that must go every week. The women on reception both front and down by the bowling desk need retraining on how to talk to customers who are paying their wages! Upstairs in skating the stewards again, flirt with the young girls when they should be doing their job! The place needs to be put under new management. Never again will I go here, it's disgusting how they get away with their rudeness. The cafe sell out of date food also but that's a minor problem compared to how you're treated when you get there. If you're going for bowling, make the extra mile through china town and straight at the round about to bowlplex in Broadway plaza. I just really cannot express my disappointment in this leisure centre. People go to have fun and relax not to be treated like rubbish.

Place is very run down. Ice rink was ok but the skating boots were extremely uncomfortable. Staff don't seem too bothered or overly helpful. Major refurbishment required. Bowling lane surfaces need replacing not completely flat you can bowl with no spin and ball still swerves. You can't add your names on the console its locked off only reception staff can do it. Wouldn't go again only went cos it was a fiver. Better off going Solihull rink.

Yes this place is in dire need of a refit, it smells a bit fusty& the entrance is scary but all in all I did not have high expectations after reading the reviews. However my daughter and I had a real laugh we bowled and the staff set everything up and were really helpful and polite then we skated for over an hour. The rink is dingy but functional there were stewards skating to help fallers and for a Saturday afternoon it was all mixed ability absolute beginners to those who were faster and more confident. We enjoyed the session and the rink really needs resurfacing but for us it was what you make it fun

Came here for a family day out today and left feeling very disappointed. Expensive to get in, poor conditions, dark and dirty with dirty toilets and a very poor ice ink. This was the first time we tried this ice rink and it will be the last. The ice was bumpy and very uneven and sloped off at the edges. There was leaks in various parts of the roof. Some People and staff skated around too fast nearly knocking other skaters over especially those just getting used to the ice. Very poor, needs new facilities and new friendlier staff!!

I came here with a group of friends with the hope of a carefree and enjoyable experience ice skating and bowling...this was not the case to say the least. Initially we were greeted by two very unfriendly receptionists who seemed to be allergic to smiles and manners. We were then treated like criminals by the bouncers who removed our non-alcoholic drinks from us. My initial impressions of the facility was that it was in dire need of a re-furb or even a good clean (sticky floors, tatty furnishings and an aroma of month old cooking oil). The ice skating was average - again the staff were rude and unhelpful. The staff on the ice, sporting high vis waistcoats titled 'here to help' were whizzing round and cut up one of our group nearly knocking her flying, to which she responded with a shriek, the male staff member then mocked her by imitated her shriek to which she said 'you're here to help not hinder', he then called her a 'cheeky sod' and skated off!The rink was also uneven so if you are a novice this is not ideal. When returning our skates we were given the wrong shoes and then accused of not handing over our skates!?
So needless to say we hoped for a better experience bowling...or not!? The initial lane we were provided with did not recognize any scores and kept freezing or knocking random pins over. We told the one decent member of staff about this several times and eventually she gave us a new lane. The same problems were again occurring and we began to feel bad repeatedly having to highlight this to the woman on the desk, so asked to see the manager. He seemed used to this sort of complaint and offered us complimentary tickets, not wanted to return to this establishment again we refused and asked for a refund. I asked the women at the bowling desk if this happened often to which she responded 'Yes I have customers shouting and swearing at me daily' - doesn't exactly fill you with confidence does it?
We were then sent to reception where we were refused a refund as apparently the majority of our money paid for entrance to the building?!? We were offered £1 each (really?!?) The reception staff were again very rude and became aggressive towards us, whilst the bouncers stood behind us with arms folded. We asked how to make an official complaint and were told there was no such procedure ?? Hence the long winded review here...seriously this place should be on TV it's an absolute farce, do not waste your time and money!
