We visited Chichester Cathedral on 11th March 25 and were lucky to be there at the right time to join a tour. The guided tour was led by Susanna. Susanna was a relaxed and informative guide, it was evident from her introduction that she wished those on the tour to get the most from it. She offered opportunities for those present to say if they were previously informed about any particular aspect and she could amend her guidance as they were so many things to talk about that she could make her tour fit the wishes of the group. We learned so much about the rich history of the Cathedral, along with the links to other parts of the country. Susanna was fun, engaging and well informed, she made our visit to the Cathedral memorable. Thank you very much.

It’s known as the Cathedral Church of the Holy Trinity and is a stunning example of mixture Norman and Gothic architecture. It was founded as a cathedral in 1075. The spire of Chichester Cathedral is the third tallest in England.
It has been central part of Chichester for more than 900 years. It’s quite interesting having two architectural features that are unique in England's medieval cathedrals, a free standing medieval bell tower and double aisles.
Stain glass windows are the best part, amazing art work and so vibrant colours. Nice garden at the back. Its entry free but if you like, can donation. Volunteers are great and helpful. Love historical & architectural places and cathedrals are the best to visit for 2 in 1 history and architecture. Worth to visit if you are in town.

Free admission, however a suggested donation of £5 per person, a fantastic coffee shop, lots of choice and reasonably priced, lots of friendly and helpful staff/volunteers around.

Would recomend Friday afternoon visit as Ann will be one of your volunteer Guilds and wow what a knowledge she has, delivered in the most unassuming manner. A beautiful cathedral, full of history from 681 to the present day. Look and listen carefully for all the hidden gems. Well done Ann, you made a pleasurable afternoon more so. Good disabled access.

I have been walking past this place for 15 years and today I found myself with 40 mins to spare so dived in.
No entrance fee but they do expect a donation so I contributed £5 per head and was immediately approached by some pleasant “ushers” who gave me a guide and started to describe interesting factoids.
My first comment is you need at least 90 mins to do this place justice. The history is vast and the stained glass windows are breath taking. In many ways this resembles Canterbury cathedral and even has some Roman structures,
I will return soon after doing more research on the history so that the famous people listed are more meaningful to me.

Random visit on our look around Chichester. My main interest in buildings like this is capturing a few nice photographs of the architecture and features and this cathedral doesn’t disappoint. We were lucky to have a bright day so the outside views were stunning and the stained glass windows were amazing from the inside and the interior also fairly well lit. We donated a few pounds to help the building preservation. Would definitely recommend a visit.

While you are strolling the town, be sure to stop in the cathedral. There are artifacts going back all the way to Henry VIII time. There is definitely typical cathedral beauty. Look for the floor put down during Roman times. It was discovered 50 years ago when renovating. The Roman town is a meter below the current town.

I visited to light a candle on Remembrance Sunday to be confronted by a 7 meter replica of MARS hanging from the ceiling. It was certainly interesting and eye catching. Coffee in the Cloisters Cafe is always lovely. It's a shame that Chichester Council now charge full parking prices on Sundays. It makes it expensive visit to the Cathedral where entry is by donation.

Beautiful cathedral. Donation’s optional. Dogs allowed on leads. V nice visit. But walked to the Palace gardens with dog to find dogs not allowed. Fair enough but couldn’t this be sign posted before setting off to find them. And a bench outside the gardens would be useful to sit with the dog whilst the OH goes in

First and foremost, make sure you speak to Alan (guide). Lovely chap with lots of knowledge and passion for the cathedral.
We visited while the Mars exhibition was on and it was certainly eye catching. There is also a good guide to take you around the cathedral and explain some of the more unique features such as the panelled tapestry and various chapels.

There seems to be some confusion as to the entrance fee can someone tell me is it compulsory or is it a suggested donation. A lot of places are doing this now which is a shame as it always used to be a donation in a box at the end .

It is a voluntary donation, with a suggested amount per person, but if you can't give that amount (or anything at all!) they will still let you visit.
