Traditional pub with good beer selection! Went on a bustling Saturday afternoon and was fairly busy creating a great atmosphere for drinking! Fairly cheap drinks too compared to other establishments! Good service and nice warmth about the place!

Really good ambiance in this place, very clean, cash only, no mobile/swearing policy, staff are always nice

Looked forward to a pint inside a pub. Away for travel and Shoulder of Mutton practically across the road from hotel. Pub is old style. Nice that its been kept old / original. Unfortunately, despite the "no swearing" policy advertised on the door, the locals were loud and sweary. At one point they practiced retching noises. Shame about the locals. Oh well, won't be coming here again.

Come here a lot love it in the summer sat in beer garden one thing is the owner of all sam Smith's dnt allow phones , wich yeah gets people talking but what if you have emergency, need to change ya rules , lovley cosy pub , I love the taddys larger , staff are plesent , polite , defo recomend the place , ..

I often come here with my partner , I love the atmosphere, the beer garden at the bck is a nice place to sit out , in the summer or when weathers fine , you arnt allowed mobiles , I pads, but it gets you talking , I love the taddy larger and my partner likes the hand pull beer its £4.30 a,round cheap yes than anywhere else in Bradford I defo recomend the shoulder of mutton also the ones in whitby too are just the same and cosy give them a try ....

Called in as been before, great pint @ £2 a pint ! We all thought it was great that mobile phones, swearing and credit cards not allowed! What a relief to see people reading or talking to each other. In this day and age well done.

This is a totally necessary stop off when I visit my friend who lives in Bradford.. It is simply wonderful. place. No mobiles, no fruit machines, no jukebox and no swearing.
Both my friend and I have a real Sovereign thing going on here.
This time it was busy, so we ended up sitting in an L shaped area to the right of the bar.And what we discovered there left us stunned and in awe.
We have never sat in this bit before as it is usually filled with old time locals. But there was room this time for us hairy types. And on the back of the wooden benches we found a number of brass remembrance plaques with the names of former regulars who were no longer with us, along with photographs of them too.
What a wonderful and remarkable thing to do. What a fantastic way to remember the ones who have gone.And the atmosphere was so incredibly peaceful, it almost felt as if we were in some sort of shrine. We have never seen anything like this before, anywhere. And we were both moved enough to practically stop talking and just sit there quietly. It was a very emotional experience.
The experience stayed with me as I took the train back down south the following day. Whoever thought of doing this, you have our utmost respect. Well done!!!

This most recent visit here will certainly not be my last. If I am in Bradford to see my friend, I want to come here. It's a proper pub. A real straight forward pub with superb ale, management, staff and customers. Oh, and a barmaid with better hair than me....sniff ;). ( which is all proper and good of course as she is a female and I am not :)))) ). Blame my age, but I was delighted to see the 'no swearing' sign as we entered.
I come to Bradford when i can to see my friend who now lives on the outskirts . A fellow southerner initially, he swears ( not loudly of course...lol) that he will never move back to the south. I understand this perfectly. I spent a fair bit of time in Leeds in the eightles and apparently said to my mother that I would never marry a southern woman. I was 14 at the time!! Sure enough I eventually married someone from the West Midlands :)) !
For the ale heads it really must be the Sovereign. It is a MAGNIFICENT drop. I am no expert, but to my tongue or mouth it is rather like an orgasm, but in a glass. But this cannot be faked!!
All are made to feel welcome here ( even us weird hairy types...haha). The customer base is quite eclectic and quirky. It's great here!! Well done. And hope to see you again in July.

This is an old school, proper boozer. No music, no gimmicks, no garish lights and just quality beer and great craic in a traditional working mans pub. Sam smith beers on tap and bottles make the visit even more worth the trip. Massive beer garden out the back too. I’ll be going back for sure.

Not been to this pub for many many years, and to be honest couldn't remember much about it. We have been 2 or 3 times recently and really wish I had been before now. Its a real traditional old pub, with several small cosy rooms. It's a Sam Smiths pub, and the drinks are pretty cheap. It opens out at the rear to a big beer garden, you'd never know it was there from the outside, you need to go through the pub to access it. The staff are really friendly, and it comes with a few local characters, making it an interesting place to have a few drinks. Will definitely be back.
