Made the whole history come alive, personalities, social history, architecture, village life... Felt so grateful to the knowledge and helpfulness of the guides to the museum.

Despite the gales & sleet lashing down - which only added to the Wuthering Heights atmosphere - we spent a lovely morning wandering around the Parsonage, church & charming cobbled streets. As you step into the museum, you get given an information leaflet - and children get their own special version with questions to answer as you go around which encourages them to really stop & look. There is just the right amount of information in each room. Highlights included being in the very same room where all the classic books were written, experiencing Branwell's VERY untidy bedroom and spotting Charlotte's tiny handwritten book of poems! The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The gift shop is fantastic with every book the Bronte's have written - and much more! If you buy a book there you can get it specially stamped to show where you bought it from which is a lovely touch. Your tickets last a year so it's very good value. We will be back later in the year as the displays change.

We really enjoyed our visit after hastily booking our tickets on line earlier in the day as the weather forecast was very good.
We learned so much information during our visit, the staff were so friendly and keen to answer any questions we had.
The displays with original personal items have been preserved and well maintained. The intricacy of some of the tiny books that they wrote were amazing to see.
A visit is highly recommended
A Pay & Display Car Park is located at the side of the museum which is also one minute walk to the shopping area.

A very interesting museum with plenty to see and read. Fascinating insight into the Brontë family . The village is also worth a visit with quirky shops and cafes.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here today, really interesting and I learnt a lot about the family. Good room decoration, and I was surprised how small the house was - I think previous TV programmes made it seem as if they lived in a mansion! It’s a really good offer too that all tickets are able to be used for a year!

Very interesting, it was a foggy day, making the churchyard very spooky. The house is a great way of seeing how Victorians really lived.

A must visit place if you are remotely interested in the Brontë sisters and their family . It brings to reality all that you knew a fair bit about

This, of course, is a must when visiting this area, and if you haven't yet read Wuthering Heights, Jane Ayre etc I am sure you will after visiting the Parsonage. It was extremely busy when we went as it was half term holiday. The museum opened at 10.00am and we arrived at 10.20 and had to wait about half an hour to be let in. We had booked for a visit that day (not a time slot). It is obvious once you get in why the flow of visitors has to be controlled. Some rooms were furnished, some with original furniture, some exhibited original items such as Charlotte's bridal dress. There is more room in the exhibition room which is in the newer part of the house. Everything is clearly labeled with information and of course there is the inevitable shop where I bought several Brontë novels. There are no toilets on the site. Use the conveniences in the car park below (and the gents is out of order at the moment: just my luck!). And do book during busy times.

How can I get there by public transport
Bronte Parsonage Museum
Haworth, UK
Hello Mike,
The responses above are very good. If you travelling by Train you will probably need to get to Leeds. From Leeds you would probably take a train that goes through Keighley. From Keighley, go to the bus station and get on a Brontë bus - the B3 is probably the most direct, and your destination is Haworth. The Parsonage is well signposted so you will have no problem finding us.
The website Keighleybus . com may help sure up your plans.
Best wishes,
Pete

Can anyone tell me the best way to get to Haworth if you don’t have a car? I’m from the US and won’t be renting a car while I’m in the Uk. Thanks!

Hello there,
The information from Compass 28 is sound. All we can add is that the bus you would get to Haworth is the Bronte Bus (B3) which runs between Keighley and Hebden Bridge (where you could also start your journey to Haworth from). Return bus tickets are available.
When you have completed your visit to Haworth you can get trains on towards Leeds, York or Manchester from Hebden Bridge, or head back to Keighley if you came from there.
We hope to see you soon,
Many thanks,
Peter

Hi, I'm planning to send my sister to the area for a special gift. She would be staying at the Gladstone Library the day before visiting the Bronte Parsonage. How far is the Bronte parsonage from Hawarden? What is the best way to get there from Hawarden?

Haworth, UK
Dear Rebecca,
This sounds like a very special literary trip for your sister. We agree with the above comments that car is probably the best option for travelling to the Parsonage, coming by train would involve a lot of changes. However, if you sister would like to include a short trip on a steam train, the Worth Valley Railway runs to Haworth so it is possible to arrive in the village in true Victorian style.
We hope to welcome your sister soon, and please do not hesitate to ask us any more questions.
Many thanks,
Peter

Hi there,
Unfortunately only guide, hearing and well-being dogs are allowed in the museum at present.
It is worth noting that between 2nd January-4th February we are closed in order to conserve the collection and change the displays.
If you have any further questions then please do get in touch.
Many thanks,

It's a national historic site, and I doubt that pets are welcome. Give them a call but be prepared for a cynical response to the question.

Do we book the VIP tour for a specific time of day, or would just a general morning or afternoon appt be sufficient? (We will be driving from Liverpool the day we book the tour.)

How to get from London and are there b &
Bronte Parsonage Museum
Haworth, UK
Good Morning Rose, Thank you for your interest in visiting the Bronte Parsonage Museum. One alternative is to travel from Kings Cross to Leeds, a train journey of approx 2.5hrs. Then take the Skipton train from Leeds - alighting at Keighley - approx 20 mins from Leeds. From Keighley bus station there are several buses that travel up to Haworth - approx 20 mins journey - or alternatively you could use a taxi. In regards to B&Bs there are several in the area and the Haworth Visitor Information Centre would be able to assist in that regard. Their phone number is 01535 642329. Kind regards Alison Boardman - BPM - Management Support Officer.
