This is a wonderful experience. The building is a quaint old cinema with bags of charm and character. A little weather worn and bijou - from the tiny ticket office to the cubicle popcorn counter. And they sell beer!
Seats were comfortable and the screen and sound system were good too.
NOTE: This cinema will be closed from January 2020 for a years renovations.

Fab evening. Love the building, it's so quaint, and like a refreshing breath after the big massive impersonal cinemas. Lovely cake, and coffee.

What a beautiful building and comfy seats too. The staff were so helpful and we had a lovely chat on the way in. They seemed keen to get some Oatmilk in too so we could have a vegan brew next time :)

This old, characterful cinema shows a lovely range of independent films, world cinema and blockbusters. The staff there are some of the kindest I've ever met in a cinema, the prices are very reasonable and the food on offer, while there isn't a lot of range, is very good. Since moving nearby, this has become my favourite cinema to go to. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

I can’t believe I’ve not been to this lovely old cinema before. Beautiful old building, it’s like the cinema I went to when I was a child.
Better film variety than the usual Hollywood stuff & great atmosphere. Can’t wait to return.

Have been going to the Hyde Park picture house for years. The films are great and the atmosphere is just lovely.

I’ve been visiting the picture house with friends and solo etc since I was a student, easy for the past 9 years now. Love the place and the character it has, great selection of local stuff such as beer and ice cream etc. Great popcorn and viewings for all ages.

This is a great old venue that really responds to the interests of the community it sits within, rather than just showing the usual big screen blockbusters.
Places like this are rare, so definitely keep an eye on their listings & support where you can - use it or lose it!

We were given gift vouchers for HPPH otherwise we might not ever have gone, but I’m so glad we did. The ticket office is on the outside and then you queue to be let into the building. It’s teeny, quite different to modern cinemas but so full of character. And the tickets were cheaper than the cinema we’d normally go to.
There is a mix of different types of film that are shown throughout the week, not just standard Hollywood stuff. It did get cold during the show but we noticed there were blankets available so we’d use those next time! We sat in the balcony and we could see the screen perfectly. The seats are not old, they’re pretty modern, but they’re about one of the only things that doesn’t seem original. It was a really nice way to spend an evening and we will definitely return.

best seats > Stalls or Balcony? - usually i get stalls but here they are the cheaper tickets

We often get asked this question and it really depends on personal preference. The stalls tend to be a bit busier and the balcony a little quieter, so some people prefer the busier atmosphere downstairs while others prefer the extra space and better choice of seats the balcony usually offers. The balcony also provides a slightly clearer view of the screen, but it is also further away, so you might prefer to be downstairs if you want to be closer to the screen.
We're always really happy for people to take a look upstairs and down before buying their ticket, so the next time you visit feel free try out one of the balcony seats before deciding where you want to sit!
