The area surrounding the cathedral is a peaceful haven with plenty of grass to sit on for either a picnic or just for a rest and watch the world go by. There are also a number of interesting sculptures to consider. Around to edge of the close are many old buildings and houses associated with the cathedral. Worth a visit.

Nice square to stroll around, with interesting and varied buildings and open views of the cathedral.

Intorno alla cattedrale c'è un esteso prato verde e più oltre rispetto al prato c'è una lunga sequenza di case vittoriane, dimore storiche trasformate in qualche caso in musei (questa è detta anche area dei musei), ma ce ne sono ancora anche di private. Il close è splendido di giorno, in particolare ieri col cielo azzurrissimo e terso, ma anche dopo il tramonto.

It's a good walk around all of the close with some fabulous buildings. Of not is the South Canonry which is the seat of the Bishop. The houses are stunning. Lots of interesting sculptures to enjoy. It is of course free.

We greatly enjoyed our daily walks to and from the cathedral (singing there for the weekend). And we also saw a Bentley and 3 Porsches parked in their marked bays - must say something about what it costs to live there. We got the views for free!!

We are lucky to live there with river and water meadow views and no traffic noise. Sheep graze swans and egrets come and go as does a pair of foxes. Punt trips on the river in the summer. Try it

Apart from the doors to the close being locked at 2300, this would be an amazing place to live. Within the close there are a number of houses in addition to the cathedral, its school and various other church properties. Only one was on the market for sale during our visit. The close is bounded by the river at one end and the cathedral and its associated buildings at the other with a variety of church buildings and private houses including the one latterly occupied by the late prime minister, Edward Heath. The central area is predominantly grass and trees with access points around the perimeter. A wonderful spot to sit and contemplate following a visit to the cathedral.

The close surrounds the cathedral and provides great photo opportunities. Some nice sculptures and places to sit and enjoy the weather and views.

Lovely, relaxing open space. Sat with my daughter for an hour and was offered free pizza. Very well kept, clean and tidy. Lovely old houses to look at. Not over run with cars.

A lovely setting in the heart of the city, next to the Cathedral. Lots of attractions and a couple of cafes. Lovely to sit in the sun and admire the cathedral.
