Since the pandemic they seem to have rearranged the seating and type of menu. This is now my go to place for lunch in a smart well run restaurant. The views are great and a stroll around the island afterwards adds to the experience! Well done boathouse!

Arranged pre-match lunch for three on a Saturday. Place very busy, staff were very amicable. Food was excellent and all three of us enjoyed our visit - will be returning for sure.

My husband and I had a lovely meal here. The food and service were both very good. The gluten free options were fine, and the waitress brought my dessert complete with Happy Birthday written around the edge of it in chocolate, which was very thoughtful.

Returning to Maidenhead we always find time to visit the lock and Ray Mill island, it was one of the first places my other half took me as he is from the area, and I'm glad to say its still one of my favourite places to spend time, walking with the kids and dogs, enjoying an ice cream and we always find pleasure in watching the boats come and go through the lock, it's a great place to sit and chat and watch.
Our recent visit look us right, across the newly build foot bridge across to the new development that now stands on the old paper mill....all very beautiful and manicured gardens and homes, we did feel a little awkward and intrusive as we walked through the estate to get back to the main road, but nice to go for a nose....I think we'll stick with walking around Ray Mill island it's natural beauty and scenic river will always be a winner.

Super location on the Thames, this stylish restaurant offers a good choice of great food and a wide range of competitively priced quality wine. The people go out of their way to make your visit special. Would definitely recommend.

So you couldn't order from your outside table and had to order up at the bar. which would be fine, if they had enough staff behind the bar. two young chaps serving the entire outside area and the waiting staff for the tables inside was carnage.
It's a good spot to be sure, but if you're not thirsty, hungry or have the patience of a Saint then this is just one big wind up. Food was ok, nothing more. The main man on the front desk was good though, desperately plate-spinning/problem solving all the nonsense going around him - don't know what he's paid, but it's not enough.

We had eaten here when staying over in Maidenhead as a weeked away, We promised ourselves we would return as the meal was so good. This time we recommended that some friends come down too. We weren't disappointed. We mainy chose from the specials board but the normal menu was equally as appealing. We left vowing to return. Oh and the location and view are fabulous.

Fancy a nice walk near the river, with ducks and wildfowl to see as well as several guinea pigs? Well, here's your place! And, if you finish walking around the island (which is easy to do, it's not that big), you can always walk across the pedestrian bridge to Taplow Riverside and see the gardens and flowers there.

Love coming here as the staff are very friendly from start to finish.
Wine is very well priced and good variety.
Food is excellent from starters to mains to lovely cheese.

100 yards on the left, after passing Boulters Lock on your right, is a free public car park, which does not too full, even on high days and holidays.
Parking outside Boulters restaurant and the entrance to the island itself is difficult and very limited, so avoid it.
Local street parking is also difficult.

I wanted to find a nice spot on my partners bday to drive to for midnight and maybe sit in the car (or step out depending on weather), where we can share a toast and blow out a candle. I wanted to know if this place is accessible at this time and if there is somewhere to park the car?

Hi , Ray Mill Island Island closes ( gates locked ) at 9pm . Boulders lock is open 24/7 there is a car park approximately 100yards away and I am sure weather permitting you could light a candle and toast your Boyfriends birthday by the river , enjoy .

Ray mill island is open every day. There is no one on site permanently and it is run by the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. Info and phone numbers are on their website.

Good question. There is parking in front of Boulters restaurant which would be accessible, but there's limited space so it would depend on how busy the restaurant was at the time. There will be space up the road a bit at a place called Jenner's; there they have a good size car park and I'd be surprised if there wasn't disabled parking. It's about 200m from the island.
