My twin brother and I planned a day’s walking in the Malverns having met up at the Warner Holm LacyHouse Hotel as part of jointly celebrating our recent 70th birthdays (born either side of midnight!)
We chose a 7mile circular walk from Colwall (I actually recorded7.6 miles) found on the splendid Malvern Walks app.
The walk is initially a climb to the top of Pinnacle Hill with excellent views rewarding you once achieved. Further walking on the hilltop brings you to the site of an Iron Age hill fort .
The walk includes fields, hilltop, woods, road and mud! Oh and some frisky somewhat over curious bullocks!!
Fault with this feed prevents me from loading photos grrr.

Highly recommend a drive in this area. Loved the gas lamps and so many view points. We stopped at the Brewers Arms and loved it. Will be back.

Really surprised the Malvern’s don’t get more publicity but on the plus that means they are not over crowded.
I am very scared of heights but felt fairly at ease with all the paths.
Definitely worth a visit.

Has a wide range of hiking trails of various difficulty levels. The views from the top of the hills are lovely of the rolling hills on the horizon and different angles of Malvern. I would say be mindful of loose rocks during rainy weather. Dogs are welcome, but must be minded in areas where sheep and cattle graze. Can be visited during various seasons that offer stunning seasonal variety.

We proposed on the top of the Malverns in our 20s and have come back ever since! Such a great set of hills to walk with amazing views and then down into the town for some great restaurants. Just what an autumn Sunday should be!

The views are glorious. I enjoyed the walks near British Camp most, very easy to get to. There are a few well positioned places to stop for a coffee if you want to punctuate your walk. Sally's Cafe was a welcome pit stop. There are public toilets and parking.
You can access walks from Malvern Town, plenty of options for different abilities. Tourist Information can help choose the right route for you.

Different parking areas & ways to get up to the top. Some routes are steep & some are less steep. Views are amazing. Can see for miles around.
Some of the routes start at a car park that charge £4.80 for all day & no hourly rate. Some routes you can park on a street with no charges.

What an unexpected pleasure to drive up into these hills and have a view down below. We looked for a tea cottage that my friend went to 50 years ago as a boy, and it was still there! A leisurely drive on a Sunday afternoon.

Staying in Great Malvern can anyone recommend the best bits of the hills to walk .. assume the Worcestershire beacon but want a bit more than an up and down of that but don’t really want to spend the 5-6 hrs walking the whole range & getting transport back. So after the Worcestershire beacon where would be the next best point to head for .. ?

We walked from British camp (parking there was reasonable) to the end just past great malvern and found it lovely with great views and back this took us about 3 to 3.5 hours and it was great.

Hello, I’m a uni Student in Birmingham. Looking for somewhere to let loose post lockdown during a weekend. Are the hills relatively close to the 2 main train stations? If so which is best? Also is it achievable for a novice to reach the top in an afternoon or a day so i can get a train back not too late. Im originally from South Lincs (the flat lands) just wondering if its really steep and suitable for a novice like me thats used to flat terrain? I really hope its achievable as this place looks amazing!
Thanks in advance

Very easy to reach the top of the hills and back in an afternoon. Either train station works.

Hello,
I like to know which is the best car park? Is this car park at the bottom meaning a long difficult steep walk up for nice scenic views or which is the highest car park where a normal car can reach as I dont have a 4x4 car.
Which walk path is the easiest and gives the best scenic views in shortest walk time and where is the starting point of this route or is there a cat park next to it for easy access?
Can the Gullet Quarry be accessed by foot?
Lastly regarding toilets, which ones are open to the public and locations of these.
Finally for the best views that means a long steep walk up the hills? Whats the highest place for a car can park to shorten the walking distance?
Much appreciated,
Peter P

Not been to Gullet Quary so cant comment on this.
If you’re heading to British Camp the car park is easily accessed but the walk from it to the top is quite tough going (no closer car park) well worth the effort as views are stunning. No toilet in car park but there is the pub / hotel across the road.
Another area is up around the Wyche Inn, couple of car parks here and a public toilet, not sure if toilet open at the moment.
There is a car park along Upper Beacon road, not too bad a walk up the hill for the views.
Hope this helps.

Which is the best car park? I'm not bothered about cost but the largest one. We're going with a baby in a carrier and need the space

Hi sorry about the delay..... yes I agree with the previous post the British Camp car park is the biggest. Its opposite the Malvern Hills Hotel which has a nice restaurant.

Would it be possible to take an elephant or tazmainian Gorilla to the top? I am currently looking after a couple for a friend and apparently they need regular exercise. Many thanks

Gorillas are more than welcome. I think there's a MHDC notice to that effect at the British Camp Car Park. There are several handy gorilla-friendly benches on the way up if there is any sign of gorilla fatigue. There are also some on the way down, too, which is nice. Dont forget to bring your own bread. If you want toast at the end of the walk you could put it under the gorilla.

Would I be able to get a pushchair to the top?
PaulDrewsterDrew
ويلز, UK284 مساهمة
It’s a long way to the top and to be honest I’ve never seen anyone with a pushchair on the hills ever! Depends on how fit you are and what time of pushchair you have. I’ve seen people wearing baby carriers but never a pushchair so I’ll say no, sorry 😐
Is it big?
Andrew B
Wolverhampton, UK116 مساهمة
Yes it’s massive but you don’t have to do it all. There are regular places to park all the way up so you can just do as much or as little as you would like or are able.

It is hilly but the paths are in good order. The scenery is beautiful but not sure a two year old will appreciate it; but you will!

Are the hills wheelchair accessible?

Defiantly NO, far to bumpy track narrow, hazardous and steep. Sorry to disappoint you but not recommended!.
