It's a great cathedral - surely one of the best in England - and I visited several times. The cafe and gift shop are excellent, and I spent a lot of money in both.
However, two members of staff who intercept people shortly after they come in were - in the case of the woman, repeatedly - too aggressive and persistent in their request for donations. There's plenty of reminders around the building to donate, and no need for the hard-sell and having your path blocked. It's especially embarrassing for low-income people, as I witnessed.
It's put me off visiting again, so other cafes and gift shops in Worcester will be getting my trade on future visits.

We decided to visit the Cathedral Christmas Eve, usually we stay at home but decided to come along & get some Christmas Spirit. Christmas service was lovely with real donkeys & sheep. The cathedral itself is huge, its gorgeous with all its stained glass windows and carvings I'm sure we may have missed areas, luckily we dont live that far away so can visit again. I love the River behind the cathedral too, I'm planning picnics there for the summertime.

Saturday morning 29th October and we visited the most amazing building that is Worcester Cathedral.
There is no entrance fee here, however visitors are asked to make a donation, which goes towards the maintenance, upkeep and repair of this historic building.
At the entrance we were give a guide to the Cathedral, it was possible to download a guide via the App and QR codes also provided information.
On entering the Cathedral one of the first thing that drew our attention and that was the sheer height of the place. The arched ceiling supported by intricate ornate masonry was just jaw dropping.
We walked across the Nave of the Cathedral and found ourselves at the entrance to the Medieval Cloisters, along which we walked. This took us past the Herb Garden, the Millennium Window, the 12th century Chapter House, there were a number of old bells lined up along the way.
The Millennium Window consists of 21 etched episodes, both biblical and historical, that are relevant to Worcester.
Alongside the Chapter House is the Cloister Cafe. The 19th Pulpit is close by the entrance to the Cloister.
Not to be missed is the delightful Jesus Chapel between the entrance to the tower and the Beauchamp Tomb. The wooden carved altar screen is spectacular.
Throughout the Cathedral there are a number of tombs most notable are the tombs of King John, Sir John Beauchamp, Griffith Ryce and the Wyldes.
Sadly at the time of our visit we were unable to enter the Tower as repairs were underway following damage caused by Storm Arwen in November 2021. Damage was also caused to the roof of the Quire
To the side of the main altar is the entrance to the Crypt, it was such a treat to be able to visit and walk through the Crypt, definitely needs to be seen.
There are some spectacular and magnificent stained glass windows in the Cathedral. The most notable are the Elgar and the West windows at one end and the East window at the other end by the Lady Chapel
There was so much to see here, so many interesting features, stone carvings, tombs, stained glass, the Crypt, the list is endless

Enjoyed our visit to this cathedral. King John and Prince Arthur and stone carving from the houses of York and Lancaster and Catherine or Aragon are wonderful to see. And the stained glass is beautiful. Don't miss the walk outside and along the river. All so beautiful.

Our usual visit to Worcester Cathedral for the carol service and we are never disappointed. The quality of the sound is excellent and my wife pays particular attention to the cathedral choir, because she gets so much enjoyment out of the three choirs she sings in.

What a complete disappointment and wasted trip to Worcester Cathedral myself, my mum and Daughter had today being 24th December 2022 being Christmas Eve. We came to see the Christmas Trees to be told we couldn't see them by 2 very rude and obnoxious so called Christian people stood outside the Cathedral stopping us and lots of other people who had also made special journeys to see the trees. including a very elderly couple. Yes there was a carol Service today but that wasn't happening until 1pm and it was 12.05pm when we arrived there so a good hour before the Carol Service and yet we were not allowed to see the trees. The trees are not in the area where the service would have been happening so it wouldn't have hurt the 2 people to allow us to see the trees and we could have left through the back entrance of the Cathedral and not through the front exit/entrance. Also to reiterate this was a good hour before the carol service. We were told it was on their website but it wasn't as we checked it before we left the house and my Daughter checked it while we were stood outside the Cathedral and we pointed this out to the very rude and obnoxious so called Christians stopping visitors from seeing the trees to be given an obnoxious reply. We were told we could see the trees on Boxing Day. Hello it is chrisms eve today on elf the busiest days for visitors to come and see the Christmas trees what with it actually being Christmas !!!!!! Shame on you Worcester Cathedral and your so called Christianity. You should be ashamed of yourselves. This country has no idea of correct Customer Service or how to treat Customers. Disgraceful

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review. We are sorry to hear of your disappointment and will pass on your comments to our visitor team to review; please be assured we do take all feedback on board to help us to continually improve our visitor experience. We do try our best to publicise our opening times, along with planned closures, and notify visitors, via the website homepage, opening times, planned closures and social media channels, that there may be disruptions to regular visiting particularly during December, due to a large volume of services taking place throughout the month, and especially in the run up to Christmas. Although the Crib Service start time was 1pm, it takes the verger team some time to set up for this and we started to welcome visitors in again from around 12.30pm to take their seats for the service, after which there was an opportunity to view the trees. There was a second Crib Service at 3pm, followed by another opportunity to view the trees, and another two services later on Christmas Eve, when the trees were available to view afterwards. Unfortunately we were unable to open the south (back) entrance as this was being used as an entrance and exit for the live sheep and donkeys that were part of our annual Crib Services.
We can only apologise if any of the information was not given to you on the day and we hope to welcome you again in the future. The Christmas Tree Festival is available from early in December (dates for 2023 tbc), and usually until the first week in January - in this case Sunday 8th January 2023.
With very best wishes for a peaceful and joyous New Year, the team at Worcester Cathedral.

I visited at the start of the Victorian Christmas Market in Worcester. I had been once before and enjoyed it just as much. There is a good cafeteria and the staff made me feel welcome in this historic building. Entry donations are optional.

Officially no, but there is a "suggested" donation of about £7.00. I didn't officially donate but, as I took lots of photos, I was happy to pay £3.00 for a photography permit and, because I got so much from my visit, I made another donation in one of the boxes.

what is the disabled access like ? and facilities for disabilty needs
There is parking for blue badge holders visiting the Cathedral off the Cathedral roundabout with easy access into the building and around the Nave. There is a lift for manual wheelchairs up into the Quire area and for those using a motorised scooter there is access to the Quire through the Friends door. Please ask for assistance from the Welcomer or Verger on duty. There is a ramp from the Nave into the Cloister. There is a disabled toilet off the Cloister. The cafe is a small area but there are tables in the cloister if it is busy when you visit.
Unfortunately due to the nature of the building there is no disabled access to the Crypt or the Tower.
