We visited the siege museum and I found that it was not as good as other museums in Derry and this is from someone with does not care about Catholics or Protestants.We did spend about an hour in the museum that is it really.

To say that this museum portrays "the Unionist perspective" is to dangerously underplay the biased, incomplete version of history it portrays. I'll begin by stating that I am both British and Protestant, but I have never experienced a museum like this before. The 1689 siege is used as a historical fig leaf — the museum is, more accurately, the museum of the Apprentice Boys, and its wilfully sectarian portrayal of Northern Ireland's history does a disservice to Derry and its past. The Troubles, such as they are mentioned, are viewed as something that happened almost by accident and far away, while the final hurrah of the audiovisual presentation about the siege says the defenders' stand "ensured freedom and liberty for all" ... ignoring the subsequent 300 years of Protestant hegemony over the Catholic majority. By all means, go and visit this museum, but do so with your eyes wide open and with a hefty pinch of salt.

Really informative museum. We learned so much about the local history, the Apprentice Boys and about the siege. Good value for money and worth the visit.

A display about one of the great historic events in Derry's long and sometimes violent history.
Well presented, informative and welcoming, and very uncrowded. We were the only visitors for the hour or so we were there.
Very much the erstwhile Protestant settler, and present day Unionist, perspective: nonetheless, part of Derry's vibrant heritage.
Worth a visit, for sure.

The Siege Museum offers a Unionist account of the history of Derry. The museum is informative and the staff is very friendly. I learnt a lot. Some elements of the exhibition made me cringe a bit, as one video said that after the Siege of Derry, the protestant victory had brought religious freedom to all. Ouch. Yet there weren’t many of such elements and I think that the exhibition was as respectful as it gets when discussing an extremely sectarian conflict.

Heard about this museum many times, and today made it for the first time with my wife. From the minute we arrived to the time we left we both enjoyed it. The guy on the desk was very welcoming and took time to answer any questions. There are 3 floors with the ground floor set out as a temporary display on the First World War and the 100 years of the formation of Northern Ireland, second floor was on the history of the siege, with some piece’s dating back to the siege, top floor was set aside for the history of the apprentice boys of Derry association. Great value at only £5.00 entry fee and a good gift shop on the ground floor. Great place for families giving an unbiased view of the siege. Well done everyone involved.

Well worth a fiver to learn about the siege and the history of a troubled Derry, giving an insight to the loyalist perspective in the Province.

I knew little about The Apprentice Boys (some of those that march along with The Orange Men) - I learned a lot from the exhibition about the them and the Siege but also heard about it from the knowledgable and friendly staff

Visited The Siege Museum yesterday for the first time even though it is on my doorstep. Entrance fee was £5 for a self guided tour and entrance to the viewing point on Walkers Plinth which was open to visitors on this occasion. The museum provides 3 floors of extremely informative information regarding the siege, the apprentice boys association and historical information relating to Northern Ireland. The museum is very well laid out, easily accessible and provides a blend of artefacts, visual and interactive aids. At present there is also a very interesting artefacts display from the WW.
I would highly recommend visitors to the city and locals alike to visit the museum you will not be disappointed.
