This is a perfect location for exploring the local area and the flat has everything you could possibly want or need!
Kath is a wonderful, knowledgeable host who is generous with her time & recommendations & always to hand with any questions or advice.
The flat is newly decorated, immaculately clean and well thought out with quality linen, extensive kitchen accessories, contemporary art, books of interest and a beautiful garden room for relaxing.
With gift shops, a co op supermarket, restaurants, cafes, a museum, a fish & chip shop, a castle and pubs - all within 5-10 minutes walking distance, this really is suitable for couples, families & friends wanting quality accommodation in a very picturesque location - thanks for everything Kath, we will be back!!!!

Kathleen saved us for sure. We were stranded at Damally station with no idea how we would get to Campbell castle in Inverary. She drove all the way from Inverary to Damally to pick us up and take us to our hotel. She also secured us a ride back with another driver from Oban because she was going on holiday and would not be available. Definitely went above and beyond to help us and it is so rare to find someone so caring. She also stopped at Kilchurn castle and took out pics in front of it. We did not know at the time that Kilchurn was actually the castle the my husbands ancestors originated. A wonderful guide full of stories and just a wonderful person at heart. The world would be a much better place with more Kathleen’s!

We had a superb tour with Kathy Cameron, spending 6 days and 5 nights together, leaving and returning from Edinburgh. Kathy put together an outstanding itinerary for us, avoiding the throngs of tourists that were in Scotland this summer, taking us to beautiful and historically significant places that were mainly off the beaten path. We criss-crossed the width of Scotland, visiting gorgeous islands and the highlands in the West ,as well as Cairngorms National Park and cities in the East. Kathy found comfortable, charming, and reasonably priced accommodations for us. She is an excellent and careful driver, and taught us so much about the history and culture of Scotland while being a lively and fun companion. Highly recommend!

I can't adequately express my appreciation for Kathy and her service. She's a "Blue Tag" guide who really knows her stuff. She does a tremendous job conveying her knowledge to her guests. She adapted to our interests and needs during our three days together. She's also a careful driver.
My son left behind his laptop so we contacted Kathy for assistance. She was absolutely fabulous about going above and beyond to getting it returned to him.
I cannot say enough good things about her. We feel like she's a part of our family. Thanks to Kathy we made some great family memories in Scotland.

Kathy gave us a superb day tour to Campbeltown via Carradale during our recent stay in Inveraray. Her commentary and local knowledge added so much to our enjoyment of the trip that we wished we could have spent longer with her.
I would highly recommend her services as a tour guide.

My sister, brother-in-law and I just got back from a 10-day tour of the Scottish Highlands with Kathy as our driver guide. The primary focus of our trip was to visit ancestral sites of our clan, get a flavor of the country and maybe see some locations where Outlander films (my favorite show). Kathy more than exceeded our expectations and gave us a tour we will never forget. For many months prior to the trip I worked with Kathy to create our itinerary. She acted as our travel agent booking charming B&B's (guest houses) that offered big breakfasts and lodging for three.
We toured Edinburgh on our own and then Kathy picked us up for the rest of the tour. She was fantastic - fun, knowledgeable and relentless in providing us a variety of activities based on our interests. Since we were in a smaller car, we frequently drove off the beaten path where the scenery was stunning. We saw castles, distilleries, a sheep dog demonstration, a festival with pipers, multiple lochs and islands, Culloden Moor and standing stones. We saw the locations where our ancestors lived and rode the Jacobite Steam Train (aka: Hogwart's Express). We also visited the Highland Folk Museum and Doune Castle, both featured in Outlander.
There is really no better way to see the Highlands of Scotland than to engage a tour guide driver. The roadways are often narrow and it's hard to judge distances between locations. If you're an American and think it might be fun to drive on the other side of the road, this is NOT the place to do it. With Kathy as our guide we were able to visit so many places and enjoy a customized holiday - well worth every penny.
The Highlands of Scotland are more beautiful and green that I ever imagined. One caution, if you're going to Scotland, prepare for all kinds of weather. We had sun, rain, wind and fog, frequently within an hour's time. When people were sweltering in London, we were bundled up. We didn't let the weather get in the way of an amazing trip. We have Kathy to thank for it. Slainte!

We were fortunate enough to have hired Kathy Cameron as our driver/guide for 5 days in Scotland. We didn't know anyone who had met her, so we relied on internet information.
What a find. Kathy was prompt, efficient, and pleasant. Most important, she is an excellent driver. (Trust me: those one-lane roads in the countryside can be pretty harrowing.) Also, she knows Scotland. On our way to a previously booked ferry, we learned that the road we were to take was closed because of a traffic accident. Kathy was able to reroute us so that we arrived for the ferry on time. Haha--little did we know that the ferry was 2 hours late. This brings me to another of Kathy's assets: she will always cover your back. We had bought our ferry passage by telephone. When we arrived to pick up the tickets, our names appeared in the computer and we were told we were all set. While we were browsing in a nearby shop, Kathy checked on our tickets. In all the confusion with the delayed ferry, the clerk had ditched our tickets! Kathy set him straight, ensuring that we were the first car on the ferry when it did finally arrive.
She went above and beyond her duties. One of us has trouble walking, and she frequently offered to drive us to or from a restaurant even after we had said our goodbyes for the evening.
She knows her stuff. There was little time during our journey with Kathy that she wasn't explaining the history of a place, the geologic reason for a stone formation, or local lore. Also, she's an avid fiddler who studies and plays Scottish folk music, so she can steer you (tee hee) in the direction of live music and, if you like, will play CDs--or even sing!
Here's the bottom line: she's a good driver, a knowledgeable guide, and an extremely pleasant woman.
[Much of this review is contrasted with our experience with another guide in another country, who was funny and pleasant but not very knowledgeable.]

Kathy helped my sister and I search for a lost city from which some of our ancestors originated in the Lochgilphead area. I think we came close to finding it with Kathy's expertise. If you are looking for a guide in the Argyll area, she is the best! I was told by other guides that Kathy knows that area better than anyone else. She also took us to Inveraray Castle. We even saw the Duke. She was our guide for 2 day, and I learned so much. My favorite besides the castle was the Kilmartin area with the standing stones similar to Stonehenge. She even showed us viking graves. Wonderful guide!

Hi Kathleen, my wife and I plus our little Miniature Schnauzer dog are touring the Highlands. My wife's maiden name is McNaught and she reall interested to see Dunderave Castle in about a weeks time on our way back southbound. Do you know if it would be possible to take a quick look inside the grounds, as I'm told it's difficult to see plus it's on quite a busy road?
Regards
Peter & Wendy Stephens

Is it possible to visit this castle. My grandmother was a McNaughten

I am visiting Inverary in September. Dunderave Castle is the seat of the MacNaughton Clan. Do you have the capability to arrange to see the Castle and the grounds? I know it is privately owned but have seen that other MacNaughton relatives were granted access with the permission and guidance from the property managers. Any information on this would be great. Thank you.

Thank you for this question and I am sorry that I have only just seen this. Perhaps you already contacted me privately. I would ask that anybody wishing to visit Dunderave Castle would contact me directly for information on my email. Many thanks. Kathy
