Great 2 days of kayaking around Oban area. Very good instruction from Stuart. Got to try out various kayaks to find best suited to us. Would highly recommend this to anyone interested in sea kayaking

We went on a 2 day sea kayak beginners course after many years off the water. Our instructor was great, explaining exactly where we'd be going and how she'd chosen the routes to make best use of tides and currents. There was lots of opportunity to learn and practice kayak handling skills and recovery drills but the pace still felt relaxed. With a maximum group size of 6 everyone had ample attention. We saw porpoises, plus lots of seals which swam very close, adding an extra enjoyment to what we intended to be purely a learning experience.

Stuart tailored an overnight kayaking and wild camping trip for us around Kerrera with our brilliant guide, Andy.
All kayaking equipment and tents were provided and we brought food and other camping gear.
Andy gave us necessary information to ensure we knew what we were doing and took us to a beautiful bay to stay overnight.
Luckily the weather was excellent allowing us to make the most of the two days. We had a great camping spot, a campfire and perfect views. Lovely!
Highly recommended.

Lots of flexibility on the trips, just make sure you book ahead in peak season!
Well-maintained, proper sea kayaks with all the goodies, all equipment included (wetsuits, overcoat, water shoes, spraydeck). Instructors are very qualified and offers good explanation along the way.

I did 2 days kayaking (Day trips) in early August with my brother. We paddled around 2 separate Islands and managed to see 14 Seals during one day!
We enjoyed the more challenging conditions on day 2 where we were taken paddling around the less sheltered Isle of Seil, it was great to experience some bumpy waves.
Good instruction, good equipment, Good value.

We spent 5 days kayaking with NKS at the beginning of July, including 2 nights of 'wild camping'. It was one of the best holidays we've had. 'We' are mum, dad and 2 lads (18 and 16). We are all sporty and active, but with negligible kayaking experience.
Stuart and his team organised everything really well - the kit was great, the routes were exciting and challenging without being beyond us, and even the weather behaved itself.......beautiful sunny days at the start, getting more blowy and choppy for the last day or so, just as we got more able to deal with it.
What made the holiday though was the care and attention of our guide/instructor, Chris. He made sure that we were safe and knew how to deal with everything, but also encouraged us to try new skills. He also flexed our routes according to wind and tide so that we always felt like we had achieved something, without being so wiped out that we couldn't do it all again the next day.

Just come back from a 4 days / 3 nights sea kayaking trip at the end of May 2014. We booked this directly with National Kayak School (NKS) as a private group holiday for 4 people.
Right from the outset NKS were incredibly friendly, helpful, professional and gave us detailed information about what they would provide and what we needed to bring. This was a great checklist to use when packing for the trip.
When we arrived, Chris (our instructor) made us feel at ease and explained everything to us clearly. The equipment we were loaned was superb. We were going for 3 nights of wild camping so the first morning was spent with us all going out into Oban bay to get used to the kayaks and checking and packing our gear. It was surprising how much fitted into a kayak!
Chris was knowledgeable about the area. He planned a route that visited some fabulous local islands. The camping locations were second-to-none. We saw a vast array of wildlife; sea urchins and seals were my favourites. Chris had planned 4 day trip with lots of variety - we followed the coastline paddling between rocks, had some longer stretches of open water paddling and used the currents to our advantage. On the last day we deliberately capsized ourselves and were shown how to rescues were performed.
Chris found the perfect balance for us between giving us paddling tips, teaching us about kayaking and just letting us have fun and enjoy our holiday!
I would highly recommend this company. I think the proof is that I have already booked onto a 5 day improver course in July and as a group of friends we are already planning to use this company again in the near future.

We took part in the 1 day sea kayaking intro course. Right from the start the instructor, Chris, was excellent. The day was explained clearly, everyone was made to feel happy and confident about the day ahead, everything was explained clearly and in perfect detail. The equipment was excellent too.
Our day consisted of a quick paddle in the harbour to get the feel of the boats and pick up the basics, then we headed down the coast, stopping a few times to get some coaching to improve our paddling technique. A stop for lunch in a secluded bay, then back up the coast and home.
A great way to see parts of the coast you would never get to.
Would highly recommend to anyone from complete beginner to experienced paddlers.
