Martin was really good at sharing his knowledge and helping develop my photography technique. He tailored the time to suit what I hoped to get out of the day. Really pleasant person to work with and I enjoyed the experience.

I had the pleasure of meeting Martin for my 1:1 evening photography walking tour in Edinburgh, and I can’t recommend him highly enough! The city’s charm really shines during the twilight hours, and this tour perfectly captured that magic.
My guide, Martin, was not only an incredibly knowledgeable photographer but also a fantastic teacher. He had this wonderful way of breaking down complex concepts into easy-to-understand terms. His passion for photography and the city was infectious, and he was always eager to share tips on how to capture the perfect shot.
The tour took us through some of Edinburgh’s most iconic locations, with stunning backdrops of the castle, cobbled streets, and unique architecture. But as this tour is 1:1 you can choose the locations (within reason) that you want to visit. Martin was patient and encouraging, helping me find a style and encouraging me to experiment with different settings on my camera.
He was also truly helpful before the tour. My luggage was lost on the way to Edinburgh and so while I had my camera, I had no battery or tripod for my tour. I was able to borrow a tripod, and he directed me to where I could purchase a battery. All was not lost!
By the end of the evening, I had not only taken some incredible photos but also gained valuable skills I can use in my future photography endeavours. Thank you Martin.
If you're visiting Edinburgh and looking for a fun and educational way to explore the city while honing your photography skills, this tour is a must-do!

I did a night tour and for non Scots it was cold but Martin took me to a warm place at regular intervals. would recommend to anyone who wants something more than a picture with tourists in it. thanks martin

Martin was a great guide. He spent time up front determining what places would be best for the photography I like to do. We had a lot of great discussions during the tour, and I was able to shoot a lot of interesting spots

Martin was the best. He is friendly, explains things about the camera with clear instructions, and gives advice on how to perform different photo techniques.

We booked the experience, with a view to being able to print off one of our
photos to a large print to frame and put up in the house. We both had different experience and knowledge levels. To begin with we sat for a coffee with Martin to have a chat to establish our knowledge and what we wanted to get out of the experience. It was an eye opening and refreshing way of looking at taking a photo. Not just the technical aspects but also the creative aspects and composition. We have both come away with new ideas of what we want to try and do next. Making sure we take loads of photos and make decisions after. Get advise on how to use the cameras to adjust f numbers and shutter speeds.
We both loved the night time photography and the light trails.

What a great experience! Martin was an exceptional tour guide who started the tour discussing my goals and expectations. He then took me to a variety of locations and vantage points that I would have struggled to find on my own given my short time in Edinburgh. He was such a gentleman and helped to carry my tripod and camera gear. He provided valuable input on improving my compositions to make my images more impactful. I would highly recommend Martin as a photography guide!

Martin was very helpful and patient guiding me throughout the tour and providing some essential tips. We spoke about my experience with photography and Martin tailored the tour to match my skills and educated me in the process. I was initially nervous about how this would go, but Martin ensured I could learn and also enjoy the tour, giving me feedback on the pics and making suggestions. Aperture Tours was very hands-on with their communication and follow-ups, asking questions about what I wanted to do. I highly recommend doing this tour irrespective of your photography skills, as Martin is great at offering help/advice.

Our guide Martin was amazing!!! We didn't know what to expect but had concerns that we would be stuck with an arrogant photographer that just barked out orders and told us what pictures to take. This was absolutely NOT the case. Martin was VERY engaging and very easy to work with! I loved that he started the day with a quick sit down to get to know us and find out what our goals were for the day and what we hope to learn. He made the day very fun and educational! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!
