Novel and different eating venue creates great atmosphere for larger groups let down by really poor food, which is pricey but below average and actually very disappointing. Paying for the venue not the quality of the food. Red Wine was terrible and there’s no excuse for this when you charge so much. Poor Food really spoiled the experience

What a fabulous venue, loved the atmosphere, friendly welcoming staff. Went to see John Smith gig and we both came away having had a really great evening

I had such a brilliant time at the Caves for our society ball last week. The staff were brilliant and the venue was atmospheric and very well equipped for the large event (and excellent food!). It was very disappointing that one of the doormen treated us with an unwelcoming attitude all night, with inconsistent treatment and hostile refusal of explanation. I felt this was misaligned with the professionalism of other staff members but we all still had a brilliant time at the caves and would recommend to anyone looking for an events venue.

The worst venue in Edinburgh. The only place where the bouncers feel it’s appropriate to challenge people’s disabilities. Told my friend he wasn’t allowed in the accessible toilet because he “clearly wasn’t disabled”. What a despicable place. The doorman immediately decided to side with his bouncer because any customer visiting is obviously in the wrong. Don’t waste your time or money coming to such a pretentious, discriminatory venue.

Extremely rude management and security were disgusting! Will never be back! Gives Edinburgh a bad name! Fell inside due to slippery floor and was told to leave without a jacket or belongings! Should be ashamed!

Mid morning before the caves was opened , I was visiting the street where the venue is with my primary class as we are studying Edinburgh history. We just stopped to look at the writing above the door of the venue when a waitress, maybe a manager, came out of the venue and talk to me in a very aggressive manner saying that they have weddings in this venue and we shouldn’t be standing in the street. She then continued her verbal abuse by asking if we were going to come again. When I assured her that it was a one off, she stormed back into the venue without an apology. Could I remind this lady and however is running it, that it is ok in the UK to walk freely in a street which by the way, as locals, we pay taxes for! If there has been any signs that we couldn’t visit that street , we wouldn’t have done. Finally, the group of children were 10 years old so please refrain from using such aggressive language and attitude in the future.

Lovely location, but can’t cope with dietary requirements like vegetarian.
Had a meal here and didn’t pre-warn I was vegetarian which was my mistake but after speaking to various waiters about what could they do for me, none of whom seemed interested, a manager finally came over and suggested I order deliveroo and get it sent to the restaurant.
In all my years of eating out I’ve never seen a venue suggest getting a takeaway.
They didn’t even have bread for me.

We had our wedding here in May 2023. From start to finish Amy our contact for Unusual venues was fantastic, nothing was to much for her, even our last minute requests. Chelsea, who took over from Amy on the day, made sure everything went smoothly while all the time remaining in the background. The food was amazing along with the service. We can’t rate Unusual venues and The Caves highly enough ( even some of our guests who can be critical at times were impressed). If anyone is planning a wedding in Edinburgh, I recommend you get in touch with Amy or Chelsea.

Bought tickets to attend here on Valentines night for a candlelit musical recital. The whole evening was fantastic and the staff were very friendly. Highly recommend coming here for an event

This might sound silly but how do you access the venue? Are there winding stairs down to the venue. I’m just wondering what it’s like for someone who suffers from claustrophobia? Many thanks!

City centre - so loads to chose from. Can be expensive - but Premier Inn always clean and value

checking where the nearest long stay parking there as going to a wedding in the Caves so need to park as close by as possible. I know there is an NCP at St John's Hill, but not sure if that is the closest option

Hello, please go to a website called parkopedia
and use EH1 1NS as the postcode. It will give you all available nearby parking and costs. I'd give you the link but Tripadviser does not allow it.
