This is the second incarnation of this venue. La Belle is one of the many venues around the Edinburgh Cowgate which hosts nightclub and live music events. Generally for smaller artists due to the capacity. On entry to the venue there is a courtyard which leads to the entrance, which is a smoking and checking your phone area. As with most of these venues you cant get a signal. What is striking is how overweight the security staff are. You wouldnt have trouble running away from them put it that way. On entry there is a bar on this level and a set of stairs takes you down to the dancefloor. On the right side there are some seats and table. But if you choose these you view of the stage will be blocked off. Despite that there are always people trying to shove themselves into the seating area. The sound system is generally great and there is a cloakroom. Social media isnt always updated so contact them for set times for bands. Its average in terms of cleanliness, but like the Bongo Club it can be tricky to find because neither clubs entrances are actually on the street. They are located at the end of an alley which leads onto the club.

Great place up a wee side street in the burgh entry was pleasant and helpful bar staff great toilets maybe let them down a little but I’d defo go back

The sound quality here was excellent, but everything else was a bit grim. Shame really, as this could be a cracking venue.

Stunning venue right in the heart of the city. Great place for gigs, sound is perfect and a great atmosphere. All the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Went to see a Bowie tribute on 09/12……what a night, what a venue, ticked every box…..be keeping an eye on what’s coming up in the venue, imo, fantastic space for live music, loved it 👏👏👏

Came up from the North west to see the Bay city Rollers. Throughly enjoyed the music but what a dirty dump. The toilets were worse than I’ve ever experienced. Shortage of toilet roll at the beginning of the night, blocked smelly toilets, missing seats and disgusting hand basins. Would never return

Went to see Jill Jackson ,and show was great Would definitely return to this venue if artists I like were performing here

I went to see Craig Charles DJ over the weekend during the fringe festival. The event was busy but I still felt like there was space to dance and the bar never had a long wait. The staff were friendly and the floor was regularly being cleaned in the bar area so wasn’t slippy. The music was at a good volume where I still felt comfortable and my ears weren’t ringing the next day. The sound quality and lighting was great!
As someone in their 30s this was my first experience of a club night at la belle, having only ever been to live music gigs. I would go back again!

Great night out seeing the Sons of the East. Good basic venue with great staff. Loads of atmosphere and a great selection of beers including gluten free ales. Forget your stadium gigs and outdoor festivals, this is the way to see and hear live music!
