The only way I'll ever be able to say I played St. Andrews! This was a fantastic experience and was fun for my kids (well, one was napping in the stroller)! When we arrived, the sign posted said they were closed and we all let out a sad sigh. We had been waiting all day for this after-lunch fun. However, when we walked up to the little shop, they were open and we were able to play! YAY! My 5 year old was very excited about the whole thing! My husband and I thought it great fun! I would 100% recommend this for couples, families. It really completes a day in St. Andrews!

We have been multiple times and really enjoyed it, however, the last experience let us down. We visited towards the end of the day and had received a text asking us to come a little earlier if possible due to weather concerns. We came as early as we could as it was a weekday and we were both working, but still before our original slot. While we were playing the other groups finished and we ended up being the final players with about 9 holes still to play. The person who was cleaning up then followed us around cleaning up each hole behind us as we played and stood passive aggressively watching us as we finished the next hole. This felt really rude and did put us off our experience a little bit, especially because we were still before the time scale that we originally booked. Again, our previous experiences had been really good but I think this put us off a little!

Want to be able to say your played golf at St Andrews? This is the way! 18 hole putting course by the Links Club House, About $5 to play, check website for reservation needs. Sometimes open to walk ins, I think. Course is really hilly, hence the name. None of that flat putting surfaces. This is a challenge. And lots of fun with friends.

Great fun - takes about an hour. Easy to walk & do. Also so reasonable - only £4 per adult. Definitely Recommend - dogs allowed to

An interesting 18 hole putting course on the edge of St Andrews old golf course ( which added a bit of atmosphere)

Playing a round or two is brilliant and very competitive. The green was well kept and offered a great balance of challenge vs. fun! Fairly priced too!

As regular visitors to our beloved St. Andrews, no trip is complete without a round on The Himalayas. Having never mastered the game of golf , we can still live the dream of putting so close to the first green of The Old Course it feels just like the real thing. The course is immaculate and landscaped to makes it challenging and fun with a few sink holes which yield an abundance of holes in one.
While Covid dictates that on line booking is required and you must bring your own gear, it is well managed play is normally at a good rate. For families and proper golfers alike it is well worth a visit.

We went to the course last Friday and thought we wouldn’t be able to play as there was a ladies competition in the afternoon. However, Kevin looked after us and made sure we got onto the course before the competition started and even allowed us to play on the rearranged course (which was in reverse for the ladies competition). We had great fun and met a family from Irvine. Thanks to Kevin for being so attentive🤗, we’ll definitely be back!

Excellent course for a very reasonable price, bring own putter and balls if using due to covid but Kevin is extremely accommodating. Well worth the shot!

I've really enjoyed playing the Himalayas over the years and I booked a round for our family on my phone the night before at our campsite. We turned up the next day without our own putters and balls. I accept that this was my fault as there are many prompts on the website reminding you to bring your own equipment. I just missed it all in my haste to book. I made no fuss but what I didn't appreciate was the sneering, patronising attitude of the guy in the hut who couldn't quite believe how stupid I was. In 2021 and during times of Covid its great to see that there are still parts of the UK where the customer is still treated with total contempt. Keep up the good work!

How far is the Himalayas course from the 1st tee at the Old Course?
A drive and 9 iron :) We are located right next to the first green of the Old Course. You can walk down the path at the right side of the first fairway to reach us.

Do you supply clubs and do we need correct foot ware
Hi, We supply clubs, balls and scorecards in the price. Foot wear should just be flat, no high heels allowed. Look forward to seeing at The Himalayas soon.

How long does it take to play? Two of our foursome camped out for a tee-time at the Old Course, and the rest of us thought we’d play The Himalayas and meet them as they came up 18. Any idea how long a typical “round” takes on the putting course?
About 45 mins for the 18 hole course and 20 mins for 9 hole course but we are closed from 12.00 to 4.00pm today for members only times. Open to the public from 4.00pm until 6.30pm. Come on down and bring you sleepy friends!

Do you need to reserve a time to play (not really a tee time) or just walk up & play? The only day we can go is on a wed & reserved most of that day for members (12-4.). Wondering if still enough time to enjoy in this day?

Upcoming vacation in Scotland and looking for a place to play something quick (pitch/putt or this place). I’m coming from the US and don’t really want to lug my golf clubs for a simple, quick round.
1) Can you rent a putter?
2) Do people use a wedge on this course?
3) Can you buy golf balls for the round?
4) Any other course suggestions for a round to “say I played golf in Scotland”?

What Naomi said :) for 1-3 for 4 there are other courses for 9 hole full golf but there is only one Himalayas for putting.

Are you allowed to take your dog (on a lead) round the course as you play?
Yes. Dogs are welcome as long as they are on a lead.
Do does the putting course mimic the real greens on the Old Course itself?

No, but think its a great attraction . Good for golfers and non golfers and just next to the main course so good photo opportunities

Dumb question, but exactly what kinds of shoes are allowed? We want to travel light and not bring golf shoes unless required. For example, can you wear leather boots if the heel is under 2 inches? Or do shoes have to be rubber soled?

Thanks! (op here) I actually did play the Himalayas wearing leather-soled boots with about a 1/2" flat heel.
For others: the booth where you check in and get your putter & ball & scorecard is around the side of the ladies' golf association clubhouse. The sign on the front of the clubhouse says "Members Only," but nonmembers are entirely welcome to go up to the side booth and play during the hours when it's open to nonmembers.
Also, be aware there is no locker or other facility to leave your belongings. I ended up playing with a (small-ish) backpack on my back.
Playing the Himalayas is loads of fun and oh so affordable!
