Finally getting round to leaving a review for the Spooky Paddle we did with West End Adventure in October. The kids have been on many camps with them and always loved them so we fancied the spooky paddle as something we could all do. Right from the start you could see WEA had gone to a lot of effort to make it special, having decorated the large changing tents and the mini bus which took us to where the paddle was taking place, which was a short journey away. I don’t want to ruin anything for anyone going next year but they even made the walk down to the water fun. Our paddle boards were waiting for us and were lit up and looked fab and after some instruction we were off and paddling into the pitch black. We chose the later session, the earlier one would probably have started with a bit of light but our kids are 12 and 10 and I knew they would like the excitement of the darkness. We were given some direction from the guides who then held back and let us get on with it but they were around if we needed them. Towards the end they suggested a race and also helped those that wanted to stand on their board rather than kneeling as we had been doing. Before we got out the water they took photos for anyone that wanted them. We had left our phones so they took some and sent them to us. They helped us get back on land, no one fell in which was a relief given the time of year! They drove us back to the tents and made hot chocolate for us while we changed and there was a fire pit for toasting marshmallows. It was such a great experience made really fun by the instructors. My daughter said it was her favourite thing that we had done all year. If they do it next year we’ll be there.

Absolutely love the ethos and experience of WEA! My daughter uses the after school care ( even though it is not based in her primary school) and I chose it deliberately because of the outdoor focus and amazing opportunities for school holidays and in service days. She absolutely adores it and the staff are always incredibly supportive, knowledgeable and safe, sending regular updates and pictures.
I also attend the 'Tunes and Tales' events regularly on a Wed morning with my sons - outdoor free play, story time, campfires, forest skills - so well targeted, well organised and enjoyable. Will definitely be using Fiona and Andrew for after school care, school holiday camps, and original birthday parties for years to come.

Both my kids had a wonderful at West End Adventure today! They had so much to tell us when they got home exhausted but happy. Adam was great and the kids loved him! This was our first time trying this holiday camp but will definitely be booking again! Also the organisation & information sent was spot on. Well done team!

Both children (currently 12F & 8F) have undertaken holiday day-camps with WEA over several years. They have loved the variety of water activities, bushcraft and general outdoor fun.
Older child has even spent the night away on one of WEA summer camps wild-camping in a hammock on one of the uninhabited islands on Loch Lomond. One of her absolute highlights.
Kids have even met new friends at WEA that they’ve stayed in contact with afterwards.
Very experienced and safety-minded team on every occasion.
Highly recommend.

My kids have been on West End Adventures' summer camp, and my daughter has chosen to celebrate her birthday there with her class.
The kids did like the sessions indeed, having a lot of fun SUP-surfing, climbing, kindling fire, hillwalking and much more. The guides were very friendly and helping, the kids felt comfortable and engaged, even despite knowing very little English at the time.
And we as parents were happy to see the kids happy and healthy after a full day outdoors.

I have waited to leave this review as I wanted to give Andrew and team a chance to respond, but as of yet they have ignored both emails which I have sent.
Note- these children were aged 10-14 years.
It seemed very organised at the beginning with the waiver being signed in advanced etc so I was hopeful for a great experience.
Getting to the loch was also excellent. The man who seemed to work in the shop was fun and engaging with the children. When we got there it seemed to unfold and unravel. For me a party should be fun and engaging, there was one game played and absolutely no photos or videos even though we signed the waiver for this…. When I asked about the photos I was advised due to the wind there couldn’t be any taken?? It was 23 degrees and not windy as I was actually at the loch. My child wasn’t made to feel special at her party it felt like a school trip type of day. Even as far as travelling to and from she was in the back of the bus and two of her friends were in the front? Another example of my child not feeling special (as you should at your party)!
Then as we came back to change out of the wet suits bearing in mind I had 14 children and was still to do the birthday cake etc I was told I had to fix all of the wet suits ( I had already hung these up on hangers but apparently the were inside out)!! I payed nearly £350 for this experience and I felt it was just poor communication, and the leaders were not engaging with the children. The leaders only actually helped in the water, no other help was given. It was good if it was a school trip etc but not for a party.
The girls loved paddle boarding but i feel for the money spent I should have at least recieved something for my child to remember the day with her friends (at least a photo)

My 8yo did a week summer camp for the first time with West End Adventures. It was a great camp which he and his friend enjoyed. One thing is that it would have been good to know the planned programme in advance. It would be fully in the knowledge that it may change with the weather but would help parents prep the kids mindset before doing something new and adventurous. Other thing is that it wasn't clear that the young primaries would get mixed with the juniors - not a major problem but did mean my one didn't get to go abseiling on the bigger cliff.

My two sons have enjoyed West End Adventures for many years. They always have a great time and very active days. They spend time outdoors trying new activities and having a very social time with other kids.

My 9 year old son had a great time at the holiday club. Paddleboarding and archery. Great experience in a friendly group.

The two kids had three days with West End Adventures. They met new friends, the activities they took part in had them talking about it for days and asking to go back for longer next summer. Which we will try and make that happen.
From Archery, building camp fires and making smores, absailing and paddle boarding and the staff connected really well with the kids they absolutely loved it! thank you.
