I was on a holiday from the USA with my daughter and son in law. Went looking to see the Highland cattle and we were not disappointed. Found 5 of them munching hay in the corner of a pasture. Great photo op.

A great wee jaunt around one of the nicer ‘green areas’ in Glasgow.
LOCATION - there were two, maybe three different entrance points from the east side of the park. We used the Dumbreck Road entrance, near the M77. There were roads accessing most areas of the park - our one found it’s way to Pollok House, where we parked up (chargeable - if you’ve no coins, it requires a phone call to the company).
THE PARK - my son and I clocked up around 6km of walking, with a lot of things still to do / see in the future. We strolled around the gardens of Pollok House (very nice) then onto a couple of trails (some hilly bits), before reaching the adventure park. A good park - caters to most ages (the sand pit was probably the winner of things to do there). Look out for the Highland Cattle!
FOOD / DRINK - we ate at the Pollok House cafe. I opted for the Soup / Panini deal (only an extra £1 to add the Soup) and a Cappuccino. My son had a Scone and a Diluted Juice. All enjoyed, with a moderate to high cost of around £15. We couldn’t find a baby changing facility - is this something we overlooked?
STAFF - we only dealt with the girl at the cafe. She was pleasant.
OTHER THINGS - as previously mentioned, take change (booking the parking over the phone was a bit of a pain). Plan what entrance to take - in hindsight we took the wrong one, parking away from the massive main car park near the Burrell Collection. Lastly, there were loads of paths - if you’re planning to visit certain areas, have a physical map or Google Maps open on your phone.
Reflecting on the above, a 4/5 rating is fair - a really good afternoon (entertaining and interesting). Falling short of a 5/5 as it just lacked the ‘unforgettable / wow’ factor - maybe a revisit on a nice Summer’s day might change that!

This park is a lovely place to visit. It seems incredible that there could be such a big green space within a large city.
Within the grounds are cattle, a pond and even a little waterfall on the river. Also, most of the paths are wheelchair-accessible.
However, another reason this is such a great place to visit is that within the park is the Burrell Collection - a museum housing some art work and various antique items. It is free to enter and contains a café plus a picnic area.
Also within the grounds is Pollok House. Entry is expensive, and I did not visit it, but it is worth considering. I would, however, recommend walking up the hill opposite to get a lovely view of it along with the countryside and distant hills beyond.
The cost of car parking is sky high, so it makes sense to come by public transport, especially as there is a courtesy bus going round the grounds, and even taking you to Pollokshaws West station.
A word of warning to those using wheelchairs or scooters: Pollokshaws West station does not appear to be wheelchair-accessible. I sincerely hope this will get rectified along with the electrification of the railway line. Luckily there are also buses which stop right outside the entrance to the park.

What has the council done to Pollok Park? There are barriers everywhere and it now costs £5.40 to park the car and go for a walk! Even the café in Pollok House which used to sell delicious home baking now just sells mass produced council café cakes in sealed packets. And of course it's now staffed by people constantly telling you they're closing soon and to hurry up and leave. The whole Pollok Park experience has been ruined and turned into a council money spinning exercise. Sad times. Next dog walk will be a free one in Rouken Glen - until the council gets its hands on that gem too.

We had a lovely morning walk round the park before visiting the Burrell Collection. The entrance is a couple of minutes walk from Pollokshaws West station. There is a selection of cyclepaths which are easy to walk on or some slightly muddier paths. Lots of bird song, we saw robins, blackbirds, crows,, nuthatches and others. We also saw Highland Cow calves.

Spent the day at Pollok Country Park during my recent city-break to Glasgow.
I would highly recommend. Beautiful estate with lots of nice woodland walks (I believe there is a pond too but I didn't find it). Watch out for the abundance of squirrels and highland cattle. Just a very peaceful and calm place.
Highly recommend popping in for a tour of the House and the Burrell Collection too.

Can we park inside Pollok Park on a Friday morning ..
There is a sign that you cannot park at weekends but not sure when they mean.
I've read that the park is currently closed to cars, where's the best place to park instead?

Depends which direction you approach from. Dumbreck rd.and Pollokshaws rd. are posibillities but both involve long walks to pollok house.

Hi is the park letting cars come in and park at the moment? Are any cafes open for outdoor seating?

You're in Glasgow so you are closer than I am to find out the answer.

Hello! I will be visiting Scotland in June 2020 with a group. After spending the morning in Glasgow we have several hours on our own. I am a Pollock and am just learning about the Pollock clan sect of Clan Maxwell. I am very interested in visiting the Pollok house and the Pollok Country park. Can someone please advise the easiest way to get there? I'll be starting from the Kelvingrove Art Gallery/Museum area. Also, does anyone know if there are any existing buildings/ruins of the Pollock castle that can be seen here? I think the original castle was destroyed by fire and then eventually demolished in the 1960's, but read that some of the outbuildings may still exist. Also any information about the park itself, what not to miss, etc. I'm very excited about this trip, any shared information will be much appreciated!

Thank you Denis! I have a Glasgow map and was thinking about the rail, so good information on timeframe rail vs. taxi. I've done a bit of research, shame about the Burrell collection, but the grounds and gardens of Pollok house look fantastic, and I would love to see the highland cows there. Very excited to visit your lovely city!
How much to get in Pollock park

From where? The park is free but it costs if you want a full tour of the mansion.
Hi, its pet friendly? Can I have a walk with my dog there? Thanks!!

I’m looking to take my kids to the wee fairy bit in the park. Can you tell me exactly where it is please?

I’m sure I am too late but for the benefit of others if you go into pollock house they give a printed sheet with exact directions to get to the fairy garden. (A popular request!). I kept the directions and will upload with my review .
