This gallery always had a great exhibition of contemporary art, this time it was the latest selection of Peter Howson paintings and drawings. They were powerful groups of muscular figures, often depicting unrest of Brexit. Upstairs There are George Devlin, Mary Armour, Duncan Shanks and Alexander Goudie amongst others. Well worth a visit.

Are you one of these people who look into an art gallery through the window but never venture through the door because 'I don't know anything about art', 'everything will be horribly expensive', someone will pounce on you and expect you to buy something'? If so this is the gallery for you!
You are made VERY welcome just to come in and wander about, have a cup of coffee, ask about what is on display - or not - with no expectations of you other than you enjoy looking.
The day I went there was a good selection of paintings in a mixture of styles and genres and prices to suit every pocket.
The display of silverware was outstanding and in the jewellery cabinets there was certainly something for everyone.
The Ruth Shelley glassware pieces were wonderful and the furniture items delicious.
I was encouraged to take my time and browse the floors in this old tenement house.
I left without buying anything even though there was a summer discount of 25% and I was tempted! I felt very comfortable and not at all pressurised and I was thanked for coming. I will certainly go back even if only 'for a look'.

We stumbled across this gallery on a rainy afternoon but we were delighted with what we found. An excellent use of space, and we felt under no pressure as we wandered around. We hope to visit again. It opened our eyes.

This is an oasis of calm in the centre of this vibrant city. The art on display, be it paintings, ceramics, jewellery, glass or sculpture, is of a consistently high standard and within a range of budgets. Both well-established and newer artists feature and their work is displayed in a very pleasing manner. Staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful, yet never intrusive. If you just want to enjoy the displays, you do not feel under any pressure - but, like us, you may well drop on that irresistible piece! The "turnover" of exhibitions is regular, so it's always worth popping in to see what's available. Enjoy!

With a few floors to choose from there is artwork in here for everybody.
