One of the two main stations in Glasgow, easily accessible and close to city centre. Quite a few trains arriving from Edinburgh to this station as we did considering it was closure to our AirBnB. Self scan ticket machines with specious options for special need or kids/strollers.

I have visited this station twice lately and both times I have found it to be easy to navigate- clean - with exceptionally helpful staff.
The location next to the square is outstanding where you can step out and experience Scottish culture with beautiful buildings and statues. Also there is a good range of eateries nearby.
Travel can be quite daunting to someone from overseas but I felt no anxiety here because of the set up and those helpful staff.

This is a good station. It is well laid out and moves large numbers of people daily. I usually are on the Edinburgh train but yesterday it was North West to Milngavie.

I’m not sure how this could ever have been called a refurbishment as it has almost none of the facilities we would expect of a city station in 2022, apart from trains. It’s absolutely retrograde to charge 50p for the toilets. I was there just after 7 this morning and they were shut I was told that “the guys from lost property might open them after 730am”
There doesn’t seem to be anywhere to buy a newspaper or magazine.
At best, you could say it’s ‘uncluttered’.
As with a lot of things sadly in an otherwise fantastic city, there does not seem the will to change things for the better or to care.

The New station is much brighter and cleaner. Now. I mainly to use the low level trains to get to Glasgow but it's the best place to get a train to Edinburgh and further North. It has lifts to all levels and the new screens are an upgrade from the older ones. A lot of staff there and ready to help. The on ok y downside is the limited number of outlets but you would never starve

The station has been upgraded over the last couple of years and looks great. Coffee / food stalls seem expensive but they are convenient and I guess that is what you are paying for. Nice coffee. Worth it in my opinion. One thing that has been consistent over the many years I’ve used this station and train line is the level of professionalism and friendliness of the rail staff. Thank you.

It’s a nice compact station but with very few facilities. On a Sunday evening the tinderbox counter which closes at 1700 was turning away customers from 1645 as apparently their drinks machine had broken shortly before closing. After 1700 on a Sunday there seems to no catering even though the station is busy. Other problems are the serious lack of seating and the well hidden toilets which require a 10 shilling coin to access.

Not sure how the renovated station can make it worse than it was before, but it looks like it has. There are no shops to buy anything in, toilets still cost 50p unlike Central station, signage is too bright and garish unlike the softer yellow of other stations and there is barely any improvement on seating areas. A bit embarrassing if you're coming from north and your first point is Glasgow.

Appalling facilities. Left on a train on Sunday night and no kiosk open to buy anything. There are ZERO shops n this station which I have never experienced n any other main station. It is a shell of a place and a customer experience disgrace.

I have used this station a few times. Edinburgh to Glasgow, Glasgow to Inverness, and Glasgow to Inverness. Much easier to navigate then most, York or Newcastle for example. Close enough to shops and food if you have a bit of a delay time to walk around..

Hello! I will be flying into Glasgow for one night's stay before making my way to Iona Sat. Sept 14. I have many connections to make! Do you recommend purchasing the train from Queen's St. Station to Oban ahead of time? I looked into combining train-ferry-bus-ferry, but I didn't see if this would work all the way to Finnphort. If I purchase a ticket for the ferry ahead of time, may I use it anytime that day- in case my connections don't match up. Thank you for your input!

Booking in advance won’t guarantee you a seat I don’t think. It’s a small train and a busy train. But it would save you the hassle of buying a ticket when you get to the station. Please throw a pebble in the Bay at the Back of Beyond for me when you get to Iona.

Yes. It's next to the public toilets entrance. It seemed quite expensive to me but probably not. Few pounds per hour (less than £10, and more hours left it got cheaper).

Is Glasgow Queen Street station safe for a solo female traveler (with luggage) at night? The train I need gets in after midnight, then I have to wait for the Airport Express bus.

It's a while since I was there and perhaps the renovations have been done now, maybe making the station bigger. But while I was there, this is a relatively small station and well lit. There is/was only one large central waiting area in front of the actual railway lines. Several rail employees were visible at all times assisting with enquiries and tickets. I couldn't highlight anything that would make me consider the station unsafe.

You don't need to book ahead on these trains. Why not go to Buchanan St Bus Station instead. Buses to Edinburgh are more frequent and less expensive. There is Engineering works on the Railways plus the fact you'll see more on a bus

How much is it to get from Glasgow to Edinburgh, and about how long did it take? Also, does the train/subway only start at a certain time in the morning, or does it run all the time?

An off peak single is about £12.50. It takes around 60-75 minutes. Glasgow to Edinburgh is a train. Glasgow has a subway but Edinburgh does not. The trains start from Glasgow between 0530 and 0600,
