Been wanting to visit for a while, and this wonderful gallery certainly does not disappoint. Lovely building, turned into a great display space. Some superlative works of art of different mediums well displayed. Definitely worth a visit

This is a unique and captivating place, a gallery of beauty and stillness. To go there is to be enriched by the atmosphere, the power of the artwork and the building itself, which is a converted chapel with a minstrels' gallery and stained glass windows.
Outside the property there is an amazing bronze (?) creature climbing the wall: it is half the height of the wall, a lizard or a salamander perhaps.
The door to the chapel is ancient wood with texture and detail of particular beauty.
Inside there is a log stove and classical music softly acting as backdrop and focus, with comfy chairs to settle on and think. It's a place where you feel welcomed and can take as much time as you like to let the visual spell settle into your skin. The artwork itself is stunning: some absolutely wonderful paintings, sculpture and ceramics, displayed with enough space around each to let it breathe.
I am not a wealthy person but I felt the pieces I liked best were both affordable and worth every penny of their advertised price.
This is a marvellous place. You can go there and come out enriched without buying a single thing. But you know you will go back, and already there are things there you are thinking hard about, and that you know you want. You are hooked.

Beautiful artwork displayed in an atmospheric converted church. It feel like a very special place.
There was no pretentiousness, no pressure to buy, just a warmth when stepping through the door.

An absolutely stunning gallery space. The exhibit we saw featured a stellar line-up of Scottish artists, including two that are now favorites of mine--Sam Cartman and ,Eoghan Bridge. Encourage visitors to also explore the adjacent cemetery.

The gallery showcases modern Scottish art, with some stunning exhibitions. Paintings and sculpture are set out in an attractive setting.

This is a fantastic gallery in a great building and location. There is quite a diverse range of modern art and they have lots of stock to look at. There is a lovely wood burning stove so it's cosy and warm while you're looking around. A must see for art fans.

This is a rare gem because the gallery and the art are a bit "off the beaten track" and all the more interesting for that. It is a joy to see the love and attention given to the whole presentation. Top marks! We need more places like this gallery.

We were staying at Bruiach House, a country house let out for groups near Kiltarlity in Invernessshire, when we passed this gallery on our way to Cannich. The person who runs it (Tony) was hanging a new exhibition but was happy for us to look around. The art works were eclectic and superb. Allan Macdonald's landscapes were fabulous. James Newton Adams humorous seascapes were exciting: and Alan MacDonald's (no relation) reinterpretation of classic images will stick with me for a long time. Perhaps the best gallery of modern art in the Highlands.

We got lost and ended up passing here so decided to call in. The art works were amazing but a tad pricey for our pockets. Definitely worth a visit though

Many thanks for your review. Getting lost is often fun. Hopefully next time you will pass Kilmorack again in a planned (but still Zen) way. It’ll be a different exhibition… but still with amazing artworks. We love art-lookers as well as art-buyers. Artists need their work to be appreciated by as many as possible.

Kilmorack Gallery is a destination for serious art lovers and buyers, and one of the top cultural attractions in the Highlands and the Inverness area. What puts it a few cuts above other contemporary art galleries is that it never seems to compromise on quality. Tony Davidson, owner and manager, has been showing and thus supporting Scotland-based artists and sculptors for 20 years now, having done up the old Gothic Revival kirk himself. I confess I'm one of Kilmorack Gallery's addicted buyers. You will be tempted too!

Thank you for your wonderful review. Such compliments bring on a little blush, but you are right; Kilmorack Gallery is a special place. Even after twenty years, I am still moved its treasures and by the collected time, skill, vision and obsession of the artists under the gallery’s beautiful old church roof. There is nowhere else like it.
Thanks you once again for being our first reviewer on tripadvisor and I look forward to your next visit. Coffee, green tea and maybe a dram awaits.
