Very disappointed with the service in Chisholm's! We called into the shop in April for my partner to get measured and order a whole kilt hire for our up and coming wedding in August. We requested MacKenzie tartan flashes and tie which we paid for and were told it was no problem at all .
Skip to the beginning of July I called and made sure everything was in order and that we would collect the day before the wedding.... We were assured all was well .
Skip to today .... 2 days before the wedding.... I called tye shop and asked if the outfit was ready so we could collect before heading to Edinburgh in the morning . Yes of course it was ready ...
Collected the outfit ... Got home to find ... No flashes ... No tie ... And the socks had holes in them !
I called the shop to rectify this to be told that she would make the flashes and would post a tie out to us ! Eh .... No! We were leaving first thing !
Eventually they sourced a tie from somewhere and we went to collect the missing items to them be told we had to pay for them! Which I refused as we had already paid when we ordered.... Not to mention the total inconvenience! Just as well we only live outside Inverness!
Imagine we had collected it enroute to OUR wedding and found that half of it was missing !
Terrible service !
We will not use Chisholm's again and will make sure no friends or family do either!

We went in to find our family crests - we are Australian but have Scottish heritage. The team (an older lady) knowledge was absolutely amazing, she found our tartans (though none in stock) and gave us many ideas about where to look next. She explained the prices (this is a high end store) and history. Amazing and we will be back in the future.

Chisholm's came highly recommended by a work colleague and, when I decided to purchase a full kit, I gave them a try.
Despite being based in Panama and, therefore unable to visit the store in person, the service that I received was absolutely superb - the very comprehensive sizing chart worked so well that everything was a perfect fit, the quality was nothing short of exemplary and the entire experience a perfect example of excellent customer service.
I look forward to further purchases.

On the 18th Sept, around 1pm I went to the shop to collect the hire only to be told the hire was delayed and it “should” be with them that day. Nobody phoned me to say it was delayed. So I waisted time and fuel coming down to the shop.
I was told that I could come in the next day before the wedding and get changed in the shop. This is not the service I would expect or recommend to anyone. The hire should have arrived at the latest the day before collection surley? Luckily for me the kilt did arrive in store around 3pm. I picked the hire up and took it home to try on.
The Jacket and waistcoat was far to small for me, and as it was past 4pm before I could try everything on due to late collection the shop had closed. This meant having to come down to the shop again at 10am to get it sorted before the wedding at 12pm.
The kilt itself was too large (width & length) this meant I had to keep pulling it up all day. I would have attempted to ask the shop to sort it but I was conscious of time. (Shouldn’t have been an issue in the first place!).
The brogues were very worn. The leather in the top had all cracked and seen better days.
I have been hiring kilts for years around Inverness and found Chisholms probably the most expensive and by far the worst service. I don’t mind paying extra for a good service but this situation was not good at all.
Also the sgian-dunh was also missing from the hire.
£100 for the weekend hire. This did not include:
Socks, shirt, tie, or apparently the sgian-dunh.
When I complained to the store, all of the above was made out to be my fault. Not even an apology from the company.
Avoid!!!

Went looking for a pair of shoes. Found most shops only sold Guillbrogues. Buy here there's a fantastic selection.shoes with buckles on now there's a thing you don't see every day. Also great selection of belt buckles. I could have spent ages in this shop. The staff were so helpful and polite.

We were greeted by an absolutely wonderful woman called Heather. My wife was looking for a wrap in our family tartan. The shop did not have any in stock and Heather with her wealth of knowledge discussed with my wife on some alternative ideas which was left with Karen to source. 2 days later Karen called to confirm she sourced a serape. Thank you so much Heather, you are a gem. The Mackay family.

One of the best places on our trip. We were helped by this older woman who's name we didn't get. We got to hear interesting stories while getting the best help possible. She gave us recommendations about where to visit and showed them on map too! We actually did go visit the north after she told us some wonderful things about it. Truly a heartful person with that left us smiling for the rest of our vacation. Plus, the sporran that I bought was amazing. Good prices, good quaity, and great amount of options. Will definetly come here again next year.

After dealing with Chisholms on a number of times over the years this will be the last time after arriving home to find wrong kilt wrong colour socks and no waist coat.
I Had to travel back to shop on the day of the wedding and a round trip of 60 miles not very happy.
Sorry is not good enough.

Chisholm's came highly recommended, so I stopped in here to order a new kilt. The service was quick and professional, the staff was quite knowledgeable, and I'm eagerly awaiting the shipment of my kilt.
If you want to wear highland dress, do NOT buy one of those £75 packages they sell on the high street in Edinburgh. Seek out a genuine Scottish kilt maker.
