Easily spotted on the river from the Ness Bridge, the shop sells a vast array of clothing and souvenirs, not just kilts.
Unless we missed it, there doesn't seem to be any signage outside for the exhibition but ask at the till (we found the staff fine) and for £2.50 they will take you up the stairs to a small exhibition showing the history of kilts. There is also a short film and it's interesting to look through and see the kiltmakers at work in the workshop.
We enjoyed it all.

Please note, if you want to see the creators of the kilts, you must come and see the exhibition between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. (local time obviously).
Involved and friendly staff.
The exhibition costs £2.50 for an adult. I find it OK for a mini-film on the history of the kilt and its manufacture (10 min, supposedly available in different languages. Personally, I don't know, I took in English), a few informative panels, a few costumes on display and the zoo-like view of kilt designers...
We understand the prices of kilts better, since everything is made by hand. Too bad, it's still out of my budget.
But in their shop, you can find a nice variety of Scottish souvenirs, which are at reasonable prices.

The shop is fantastic! We also took the short tour upstairs showing how kilts are made, it was very interesting. If you’re in Inverness, this is definitely worth seeing.

The information given by the store is not honest

Surly and unfriendly staff on checkout. We just spent £110 on a woollen sweater and anyone would think they we had just vomited on the floor!

Negozio che propone kilt ed abbigliamento tipico scozzese, ben fornito e con personale gentile e disponibile. A fianco si trova il Kiltmaker museum dove è possibile assistere alla creazione del kilt seguendo le varie fasi di lavorazione e cucitura.

Grumpy, unfriendly staff, we were scowled at for bringing a child into the store and made very uncomfortable until we left. Just cross the river, several lovely friendly gift shops close by
