These are set on the hillside behind the theatre and cost £5 entry unless you are an RHS member when they are free. Despite visiting in October when many gardens are preparing for winter these were lovely gardens. They are laid out around the continents and people who collected many plants from around the world.
There was a large collection of plants with descriptions of the people who collected them. It also has resident red squirrels which we saw one of, a rare treat.

Lovely area and well worth a visit. We visited quite late in the afternoon and the light was lovely. We were also so chuffed to see a red squirrel. Can’t recommend highly enough and if you have transport or not far to go it’s also possible to buy plants. Sadly we couldn’t as we were going on elsewhere but it’s a great excuse to visit again. £5 entry fee is money well spent.

This is a wonderful garden, slightly hidden away above the well-known Festival Theatre in Pitlochry. As its name implies, it describes and exhibits the hundreds of trees, plants, algae etc that were discovered in many different parts of the world by Scottish explorers in the 18th - 20th centuries. It is very extensive (you could spend hours there) and beautifully presented and maintained, despite having only three permanent staff. So many attractive and indeed amazing species to admire from its winding walkways: this is a place not to be missed. Moreover no chemicals are used there so it is an environmental treasure as well.

Delightful gardens! It's clear the staff and volunteers love and cherish the gardens and they do fantastic work maintaining it. Particularly loved all the insightful and thoughtfully written fun facts found around the gardens, they were funny and clearly written with love! I learned a lot whilst also finding it incredibly relaxing

This garden is a real gem. Plenty of interesting plants and trees, sectioned into world regions but what makes it even more interesting are the history boards detailing all the Scottish plant explorers detailing their searches for plants and seeds throughout history. The head gardener was so friendly and helpful. Good to have safe pathways throughout the garden and interesting places to sit and just absorb the beauty and tranquillity of the garden

The structures of this garden are very special. If you get a chance to speak with head gardener Caroline, she’s very knowledgeable snd passionate, then it’s worth every second. She’s working super hard to restore this garden, which has rare species, and has been neglected for many years, so is somewhat over- grown. But there is plenty to see. And delightful places to sit and absorb the atmosphere.

Thanks to Caroline for her fascinating insight into the explorers garden she so obviously has a genuine passion for the place and a determination to restore it to its former glory even on a wet day this is a fascinating place I could list some of the wonder features but really half the fun is exploring this extensive garden , I've been head concierge next door for years and never realised how interesting it was 10 times the size I thought I assumed it was a narrow strip up the side of our driveway

Had a tour and it was the best despite the weather. An absolute treasure find of a garden and the head gardener was a breath of fresh air. Her enthusiasm and passion for her job shines throughout her and the space.
This is certainly not a space to be missed. A tour of the world in a serene and calm green space. So many little secrets around every corner be sure to spend a long time in here as you could easily just drift away.

Lovely hillside garden . Our visit was in the evening to see a performance in the amphitheatre. A wonderful experience in a fairyland setting.

A lovely garden with plenty of information about all the plant hunters. Very well laid out, this garden is well worth a visit.
