Before setting out with my wife and granddaughter I 'confirmed' it was open via trip advisor site only to discover it was closed on arrival - disappointing

What a lovely old building, we visited here whilst up seeing relatives in Paisley. It's right in the heart of the town centre and easy to get too.

This place is very interesting, small but you actually have a tour guide giving you the complete history and o. Certain nights you can observe the stars thru the giant telescope.

Totally appalling customer service. Website states open to public tuesdays and sundays 11-1 and 2-4. Precise eh? So we travel down there and door is closed at 2.40 on Tuesday. Ring buzzer. Get spoken to through intercom to be told last tour started at 2.30. No personal contact no apology....is this publicly or charitably funded? If so need to seriously up their game. It is also in v rundown area with boarded up buildings and no effort to make place look appealing. So glad i had not taken any tourists there. My sons were disappointed though.

Die Sternwarte kann leider nur in Kombination mit dem Paisly Museum besichtigt werden, an das sie angeschlossen ist und das auch nur im Rahmen einer geführten Tour.
Diese Tour wird von ehrenamtlichen Mitarbeitern durchgeführt und dauert ca. 45min. Sie informiert sehr gut über die Geschichte der Sternwarte.
Neben verschiedenen Modellen zur Astronomie ist auch die eigentliche Sternwartenkuppel mit dem historischen Teleskop zu sehen.
Diese Tour wird von ehrenamtlichen Mitarbeitern durchgeführt und dauert ca. 45min. Sie informiert sehr gut über die Geschichte der Sternwarte.

Tienen esta atracción poco valorada, como todo lo que hay en Paisley. Pero en verdad es que es una maravilla de lugar. Se accede desde el museo, y si preguntas dentro, te hacen una visita guiada al observatorio. Normalmente estarás tu solo porque como bien he dicho, no parece una atracción muy explotada. Además alberga un secreto, y es que si vas los jueves o martes por la noche de 6 a 9pm, tienen el gran telescopio de uso al publico y apuntando directamente a la luna!! Es bastante interesante.

Great small local observatory, we are very lucky to have this in Paisley. If you get the chance go to one of the winter viewing evenings,to have a look out of the telescopes
and wonder at the universe.

A building donated by the coats family of paisley to the people of paisley is home to a fantastic historical telescope which is still in use today . visitors get to see the machinery in action .well worth a visit. Limited parking unfortunately.

Clean, well-preserved, passionate / knowledgeable staff, feel welcomed, it is surprised to use a telescope made in 1898 to view the moon. Beautiful, clean building, well-maintained, love the green tiles.

Visited here on a spur of the moment decision whilst walking past with a friend. We dragged ourselves up the hill in the pouring rain only to find we should have gone to the museum to go on the tour. However, we pushed the intercom and staff let us in the door to join the tour a few minutes late. The guide for the free tour was really knowledgeable and was happy to answer any questions, letting us take as long as we wanted to look around and take photos. The stained glass is beautiful, as is the tiled interior of the building. We were taken right up to the dome to see the 19th century telescopes. Most of the building has a ramp, with a small spiral staircase at the top so not too tiring to get there. The observatory run regular evening sessions over the winter where you can use the telescopes, but it is very cold in the dome, so wrap up. A great free attraction which I'll definitely go back to with my son.
A signpost at the bottom of the hill directing people to paisley museum for entry to the tours would be helpful, but other than that, I can't fault it

Hello!
Ive read that the perseids shower is available to see during the night, i wonder if theres any chance that you could actually make an event with it or something, i also read that the best possibility to spot them is in the middle of august. Do you have any advices how i could get the best experience with it?
