needs a freshen up. The play park is great and is located next to Pirate Pete's (soft play centre) and overlooks the beach. The play area has lots of equipment and has something for all ages. Ayr is lovely but definitely needs a lick of paint so areas look less neglected. We had the best holiday in Ayr and with a little more love I'm sure it'd attract more holidaymakers!

Great place to take the grandchildren who all loved it. Plenty to keep them entertained for a couple of hours irrespective of the weather

Great play park but spoilt by seagulls who swoop on young and old as soon as food is seen. This is the second time in two years a nice day out was spoilt by the seagulls which is a real shame as the park has a lot to offer families who visit Ayr

A wonderful park for all ages. Well maintained and in a beautiful location. We throughly enjoyed our trip here! Parent and child swing was a bonus.

nice but small. not much seating and no protection from the weather. dangerous swing which may have caused injuries

Great day out. Beautiful beach. Great for kids to spend time on the beech, Great play area next to beech. Great selection of rides to entertain kids. Nice scenery & open place. High recommend to visit & enjoy the views.

The area the park is in is beautiful, on the seafront with a large green space attached. The playground has fantastic equipment, and kept our 6 and 8 year old amused for over 2 hours. A serious drawback though is the seagull problem. Our son unfortunately got his hand scratched by a seagull diving to try and get his ice cream, and we saw several incidents were people were getting swarmed and intimidated by them as they were trying to eat food. Definitely go to enjoy the park, but don’t bother eating there.

I still feel nostalgic about Ayr cos its a place of my childhood but many parts are in need of a facelift as with many of our ayrshire resorts. AYR has a great beach with good facilities for kids and the backdrop is lovely Arran. The river ayr walks and bridges are a must and the many burns monuments are interesting and unmissable There are many good shopping experiences and excellent restaurants. Still a worthwhile place for a good day out.

Great beach side park with plenty of equipment to keep kids entertained for hours. Short walk from town centre.

On a weekend visit to Ayr we decided to take a walk along the promenade and visit the massive park. My boys are slightly older at 13 but they still had a great time. Plenty of swings and spinny things and zip slides etc to keep them busy. Further down out of the park there is also a small exercise park which I loved. Around 6 exercise machines to keep fit for free! Only thing is, we wouldn't come back on a Saturday early evening as the street was full of drunk teenagers and cars posing around but there was a police presence keeping an eye on them!

Yeah I see plenty of folk doing it during the summer. Just don't be tempted to have a beer with it as the police and council patrol regularly and issue fines if you're caught.

If I bought an ice cream from the nearby renaldos ice cream what would be the maximum time I could take to walk back to the park before my ice creams started to melt?
At what temperature does this time apply?

I am not sure as that would depend on how solid the ice cream is and the temperature on the day. What I would say is there is no rule against you enjoying your ice cream as you walk to the park. Relax and go with the flow.

yes places to go and cafes etc to grab a drink. i took mine into the ( i think pirate petes) soft play very reasonable. right at5 playpark

are there many shops in the town? Going on a day trip form belfast to ayr and would like to know what we can do for 7 hour stay? Any tips would be appreciated .

Yeah lots of shops locally and would recommend the Wellington fish and chip shop and the ice cream parlour next door.

Yes, dogs are allowed on the beach but would need to be kept on a leash in the playpark.
A lot of people use the beach for their dogs, you see them swimming in the water.
Also lots of other areas to walk the dog or let them run off the lead.
