Value for money and for once not ripped off with e torsional prices

‪This is a great day out. Of course the sun helped but it's a great day. My teenager enjoyed it but was bored in between races. That's a teenager thing though!

Food was fine, queues on the food court were off putting though so we ate from the club snack area.

Two things that would have warranted a 5 star rating in my view would be 1. To rope off the bar areas to ensure a queue system as it was a case of who shouted the loudest or looked the best, and 2. A cloakroom for overnight bags and jackets, also a good earner.

Will definitely return though.‬

‪Absolutely awful experience at Ayr races for the Scottish Grand National. It takes ages to get served at the bar and then they often have issues with the beer leading to long delays. It was really bad last year and foolishly I thought they’d have learned the lessons and made improvements. Nope. There is no queuing system and the staff are hopeless so they just serve whoever is the pushiest and don’t keep an eye on who arrived first. Organisers, I recommend you get yourself to Murrayfield and see how the professionals do it. I would say that it’s a health and safety hazard in the enclosure, they let far too many people in. You can hardly move. Food is crazy expensive and so bad you’ll throw it in the bin. Down at the boards is good fun and pretty good in the parade ring but value for money it ain’t. I’m not going back until I see better reviews on here.‬

‪Went to the Scottish national at ayr yesterday never again.toilets were a joke bad enough getting in but worse trying to get out.
Bars were a mess no queuing system just a free for all.
We had trouble at our table no security staff in the main grandstand to help with this eventually managed to find some outside.
We go to alot of race meetings and I have never felt so uncomfortable far too many people.if anything serious happened we had all had it.‬

‪Ayr grand national was the worst thing I have ever attended.
Far too many people well over capacity couldn’t move inside.
The toilets were the most vile thing I have ever witnessed then the bar outside was ran by complete and utter amateurs didn’t understand anyone it was like watching paint dry watching them try to pour drinks!
Missed races being stuck in the que for the bar I would be completely embarrassed if I was the people behind the scenes attempting to run the day at the races.
How long have ayr been running the races and that’s how horrific it is never again every other race track made them look like an embarrassment what a disaster!‬

‪Just experienced one of the worst days of my life at a sporting event. Really do not know where to start. Management of this event need to take a hard look at the appalling so called organization of this and hang their greedy heads in shame. We bought Grandstand Tickets and if you wanted indoors you were in a basement, no view of the course what so ever, toilets' a disgrace flooded, no toilet paper, 40minute queues is an understatement, my husband could hardly get into the gents for people snorting obviously cocaine openly on sinks, bars queued no organization 10 deep, felt sorry for the probably underpaid staff who worked there butts off to serve people. These bars should be roped off with lines of people queuing but greed prevails and you are crammed in like animals. There was massive bottle necks at the entrance/ exits. The weather is not to blame as people would have been drinking more and toilets albeit could not possibly get any worse had it been a nice day. I know a lot of people who had gone to this event and most left after the actual Grand National race. I have been going to the Grand National at Aintree for more than 20 years and they know how to put an event on. Shocking Atrocious event at Ayr. Did not take any photos of the toilets as there was a attendant trying to keep the flow of water from the toilet under control but her bucket was full, how demoralizing for this person to be left in a flooded toilet is beyond belief, the Health & Safety of this event was a Disgrace. I'm surprised there was not a lot of trouble due to the queuing at bars and toilets as we witnessed a lot of verbal abuse. Will not be back. Grace McDonagh‬

‪Terrible experience at Ayr race course on a club ticket. Over crowded, bottle neck to get in and out the lounge felt unsafe and no organisation. Massive queues for terrible over priced drinks. £6 for wine that wasn’t even drinkable it went in the bin. Loads of drink spilled on clothes due to over crowding. No food outlets in club lounge other than stale pies at the bar. Massive lines to put a bet on. £3.50 for a race card GTF! Best bit of the day was the bus there and back. Won’t be back. Perth and Musselburgh 100 times better. This place is a dump.‬

‪The venue is over crowded especially as you arrive can’t meet any standards of health and safety. The bar service is slow and then they have no lemonade but stlll charge 6 quid for a vodka and black currant cordial ow and then they run out of ice.

All in all if you want to go to horse racing go to Musselburgh

Very disappointed that’s the Scottish national is so poorly run‬

‪The below email was sent to Ayr Racecourse.........................It took 10 days and me chasing to get a response.

Could someone ensure this email gets to the Managing Director or Chief Exec please.

I’d like to emphasize that the reason for sending this email is to highlight the shocking level of customer service I experienced at Ayr yesterday.

I am an avid racing fan, regular racegoer, owner and most importantly paying customer – The paying customer part is something you’d be well advised to drill into your staff, they don’t appear to understand how important the paying customer is.

Yesterday was my Stag Do and I had a box booked with 12 of my close friends. This was booked and paid for by me via Corinthian Sports. If I recall correctly, I spent something like £70K+ with them last year. I am a regular at Ascot with Corinthian, usually twice a year, and at Aintree as well as other sporting events. I have had a relationship with Corinthian for a very long time, without issue of any sort, and they have an excellent operation. I have copied them on this email for transparency.

When we arrived and were seated in Box 10, one of the staff said it would be a cash bar and under no circumstances could a tab be run and paid on a credit card. I politely pointed out that wasn’t my expectation, that I had booked and paid for an all-inclusive package. I asked if they could get the manager or whoever was in charge. A few minutes later someone appeared. The gentleman didn’t introduce himself and handled the situation appallingly. He bluntly told me, in front of all my guests, it was a cash bar and that was what I’d paid for an that was that. I asked if I could speak to him outside. Whilst we were walking outside, he turned to the staff in the box and told them no drinks without cash payment.

Once outside I said to him there was clearly a problem, I wasn’t happy about it and I told him he was handling it the wrong way. Not appearing to care he handed me over to two ladies. I’ll highlight again, no introduction, no names, no job titles or role descriptions or the slightest indication they wanted to assist. I was met with the same blunt disregard for what I was telling them – That I had paid for a fully inclusive package. This conversation was carried out in an open corridor in front of other people. That should never have happened. I had to continually point out and emphasize the issue was not with me and lay between Ayr and Corinthian, as it did. There was no empathy, no ownership and zero responsibility from anyone of the staff at Ayr. I suggested that they contact Corinthian, take the issue away from being my issue and go and fix it. The issue was never my issue, never my problem, should never have been visible to anyone and could so very easily have been handled in a professional and succinct manner.

The gentleman who had appeared initially kept coming back into the box and kept telling the two staff who were looking after us – That they hadn’t to serve us without receiving a cash payment. He did this at least three times in front of everyone and the two staff were incredibly and visibly uncomfortable. Instead of going away, focusing on the problem, and resolving it, he kept bringing the problem back and kept it visible and made an issue that was wholly avoidable.

I phoned Corinthian, they phoned Ayr and then called me back. 5 minutes and resolved.

The same gentleman who first appeared then came back into the box – No apology, full of attitude and clearly unhappy about me pointing out the issues. He bluntly said that the issue was fixed and no payment was required by me or any of my guests.

The three people, whoever they were, were awful. They were unprofessional, they were irresponsible, and they allowed an issue between Ayr and a 3rd party company become the issue of a paying customer. Utterly, utterly atrocious. I’ve been racing all over the world, but I’ve never been treated the way I was treated yesterday. It was appalling.

The simplest of approaches and the tiniest bit of empathy could and should have sorted this. “Good afternoon Mr. Watson, my name is such and such, I believe there’s an issue”. After I explain the issue such and such says, “I totally understand Mr. Watson, leave that with me and I’ll sort it out for your”. Such and such contacts Corinthian, resolves issue comes back and says “Mr. Watson, there’s been a miscommunication, all is well and have a lovely day”…………………………………It’s not rocket science it’s called customer engagement. Send some of your staff to Ascot, York, Newbury or one of the other premier tracks in the country and you’ll get exactly what I have outlined – Empathy, understanding, professionalism and an attitude and willingness to help.

Everyone who was with me was shocked at how poorly handled this was and everyone felt it could and should have been done so differently. I was embarrassed and it soured the whole experience, which is regrettable and was completely avoidable.

A bitterly, bitterly disappointed, and extremely angry and dissatisfied customer.‬

‪This place has went downhill big time.
Went to the new years race day with another 2 couples.
Got there early and managed to get a table.
Went to the bar and that was where the fun began.
Not to disrespect the bar staff as it’s not their fault but clearly they had only just been taught how to pour a pint and serve wine 10 minutes before I got there.
They just didn’t have a clue.
And with the price I’m paying for a beer in a plastic cup I’m expecting it to be decent.
Not to be handed 3 with a 2inch head on it.
I was there at the gold cup and had the same issues.
Certainly won’t be rushing back.‬
