Bit diffiuclt and off the usual main road.. about 10kms.
Simply beautiful. Need to be careful as bathing can be dangerous quite close to the falls. Safer further down .

Sera ella is a stunning waterfall in mathale district(.Pothatawela village) Its situated on the way to Bambarikiri ella the special thing of the sera ella there is a natural cave behind the water fall. Its accessible . sera ella waterfall is popular because of the its wide is bigger than height normally water fall height is bigger than width. Best time to visit seraella December to April.
Its take maximum 30 min from the mini world end .
Waterfall height 10m width 30 m(33ft).
Google map location is correct otherwise ask from the local.
Seraella start from the knuckles mountain range along side manigala mountain .

February we visited Sera Falls, a beautiful waterfall located in the Knuckles Reserve in the Matale District. Generally, the water of this waterfall is Walking into the cave, you are standing behind the crumbling water and it's a rare sight you should see at least once in your life.

Matale District is a beautiful place with its natural beauty, equipped with waterfalls and beautiful places.
Last December we visited Sera Falls, a beautiful waterfall located in the Knuckles Reserve in the Matale District.
Generally, the water of this waterfall is abundant between November and March.
Traveling a little farther and tighter, but when the waterfall comes to a close, you will no doubt feel the freshness of your exhaustion.
It measures 10 meters in height, which means about 33 feet in height and measures approximately 15 to 20 meters in width. You will realize that this is a waterfall that is wider than the height. Another highlight of this waterfall is its natural cave in the rock, located behind the falls, and you have the opportunity to walk into that cave.
Walking into the cave, you are standing behind the crumbling water as shown in the video and it's a rare sight you should see at least once in your life.

You can go behind the waterfall, there is a small cave kind of a thing. Need to climb down few steps to access.

This can be considered as the most beautiful waterfall in Riverstonearea.I think this is something which you should must visit if you are going a trip to Riverstone area.it just after passing pitawala pathana when you are coming from Matale.

This is waterfall which you should must visit if you are going a trip to Riverstone or Manigala. You will find this not more than few killo meters away from Riverstone. If you had a tierd day of climbing mountains make sure to visit this where you could enjoy the beauty and cold clean water from the mountains. Please make sure to take everything you bring except your footprints.

This can be considered as the most beautiful waterfall in riverston area. You can safely bath here. About 9 km away from the main road

its a beautiful place to chill but dont go to bath, i just had a very bad experience day before, iam a extreme and a very good swimmer, but i almost died saving my friend from drowning, not being negative but its 20ft deep from the start and theres a huge rock in the centre wher its pretty dangerous to swim, get all the emergency stuffs before going there for a bath

Hi, few questions,
1) How close can a bus go close to the ella?
2) I saw someone's comments saying there is a 20km walk from Riverton to Sera Ella, is that optional if the road around is now done?

We travelled in a 4x4; however, the narrow road can be travelled by car, as many do. However, there are a few areas which need careful maneuvering. Try to avoid cars that are overloaded or too low. Regular sedans, small cars and vans are the vehicles of majority of the visitors whilst we were there.
Remember, the journey is part of the adventure... So, enjoy the ride!

There are number of route option, I may explain the easiest way how we went there. If you are travelling from Kandy to Matala and take the same route where the riverstone is located from there you have to climb down the other side towards hettipola in a distance about 18km from river stone. You will notice a sign on your left about the Sera Ella. Its better if you use a jeep or a van with increased weel hight to watch this place. The name "SERA ELLA" explains that the beauty of this waterfall is just like the leaves of a sera tree hanging down. Its HIGHLY not recommended to bathe in this waterfall because after a curtain point it directly goes deep without a measurable point.
