Back for our 4th year with Hidden Hebrides - this time centred in Oban. A week of wonderful walks with some ancient history added in. Our guide Mick had an extensive knowledge of the area, wildlife and local history. The scenery is stunning and it was an absolute joy to spend our days in such stunning settings, wandering around the coast and islands. Our guide worked incredibly hard to ensure our walks delivered the maximum possible enjoyment whilst carefully tweaking our itinerary on the couple of days when the weather wasn’t so good to keep us as dry as possible. Highly recommended

Recently returned from a Shetland holiday with Hidden Hebrides - a great experience and an excellent introduction to Shetland. It was well organised and with an itinerary that included spectacular cliff top walking, sea bird life and visits to archaeological sites. We had a superb guide in Richard – very experienced, capable and knowledgeable but also good fun. We stayed in a comfortable hotel in Brae which made for a good central base for the week. Great to have a fully inclusive small group walking holiday - my third with Hidden Hebrides. Highly recommended!

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Orkney with our guide Alayne. She was thoughtful, knowledgeable and fun to have around and the excursions were all excellent, adapted according to the weather. We enjoyed wonderful walks, beautiful wildlife and fascinating archeology and geology. The food was also excellent without exception. Thank you so much.

Just back from an amazing walking journey on Shetland. Mick from Hidden Hebrides have compiled and a comprehensive week long experience of Shetland from Sunburgh in the south to Unst in the north.
So ably guided by Richard, the experience included puffins, brochs, wild coastlines, ancient history, geological sites, native plants and friendly locals. Enough memories to last a long time.

Outer Hebrides holiday
I chose Hidden Hebrides because I am new to walking so I particularly wanted a company that provided a guide to lead walks. It seemed like a great option that they also organised travel, arranged my accommodation and food options AND provided an introduction to parts of Scotland that I had not travelled to before. Hidden Hebrides delivered on every aspect! I had a lovely week exploring an area that is breathtakingly beautiful. The accommodation arranged was very comfortable with lovely breakfasts provided before we set off for the day. The places that we ate in the evening were thoughtfully chosen to provide us all with a wide range of food options - mainly using local ingredients and supporting local businesses. The food was a definite highlight for me.
Isi was a brilliant guide. Knowledgeable and friendly. She accommodated everyone's interests as far as was possible within a group. She skilfully supported each of us with our particular interests and brought us together as a group.
I had a great holiday and would thoroughly recommend Hidden Hebrides as a holiday company. I will be booking to travel with them again next year.

I came on my own but was immediately made to feel welcome by our guide Chris and the other walkers, who mostly knew each other from previous Hidden Hebrides holidays. Coming from London, I really felt I'd gone abroad - Islay's dramatic scenery, miles of empty beaches, wild flowers, singing seals, golden eagles... a far cry from the Archway Road. Also laid on were visits to ancient Celtic sites, a whisky distillery, nature reserves and the even emptier Isle of Jura. Evening meals at different restaurants were mostly very good - a huge mound of local scallops a greedy highlight. The B&B was comfortable, the landlady a hoot and full of local gossip. And most of all, our guide was terrific - patient, funny, informative and very well organised. I'll be back.

I’ve been on two holidays with Hidden Hebrides (Shetland and Outer Hebrides Highlights). They're a very professional, well organised company, and their communication is excellent.
The groups consist of up to eight people, plus a guide. I’ve gone on both trips as a solo traveller, which I was a bit nervous about, but have found the others in my groups (a mixture of solos, friends and couples) friendly and interesting.
Among the many highlights of my trips are seeing puffins, fascinating archaeological sites, amazing views, birds and flowers. Somehow Hidden Hebrides manage to arrange things so that you fit a lot into your holiday but at the same time you never feel rushed and are able to enjoy everything and take in the experience.
The guides on both the holidays I’ve been on were very knowledgeable, and I loved the fact that everything was organised and I didn’t have to worry about anything. At the same time, there’s flexibility, so plans can be changed depending on the weather and the group members.
Highly recommended!

This was a wonderful holiday in Orkney; a very special place. It was a small group expertly guided by Alayne and we saw so much of the history, archeology and birdlife in the time that we had. Our guide was knowledgeable and clearly enjoyed sharing her experience and love of the islands. Unforgettable!

I went on the Southern Isles trip in July and had a fantastic time. It was extremely well organised, from the moment we were collected in Inverness. Our guide, Isy, made sure to ask us (a group of four strangers) at the start if there was anything in particular we were wanting to see or do (e.g. some of us said we were interested in spotting birds; I mentioned dropping in to a local art/craft gallery).
The scenery was quite varied across the islands, with some of the spectacular white sand beaches the Hebrides are famous for and flatter scenery on the Uists compared to Barra where we spent the latter part of the week. We were lucky to get dry weather and to make the boat trip to Mingulay, where we saw puffins - a highlight for me!
The accommodation was extremely homely and comfortable (excellent breakfasts, especially on Benbecula) and it was a treat to visit the well selected restaurants through the week too - we all agreed we ate very very well. Note that often you go straight from the end of the walk to the restaurant, so no time to change (which might influence what clothes you pack!).
There was quite a lot of driving, particularly on the Uists, but in a comfortable minibus. Worth being prepared for that.
The walking itself was not very challenging - we went at quite a gentle pace so we could observe and take photos and there weren't any taxing ascents. But I still felt I'd really benefitted physically from an active week in the very fresh air. Not to mention the peace and quiet of the islands!
Would definitely recommend this holiday and company.

In July I happened to be travelling with HiddenHebrides (my actual trip with another provider was cancelled). It was supposed to be... it was so beautiful. With Isi as our tour leader we had a jackpot; she was a super great tour guide, always in a good mood, always very interested in our well-being, always responded to our (extra) wishes and chose us excellent suitable hikes. The choice of restaurants for the dinners was also more than happy.
The accommodations in the B&Bs on Uist and Barra were great. All in all, I highly recommend HiddenHebrides... more than worth a trip.
