Lovely little museum with friendly informative volunteers. Well worth a visit to support them. It is free but please leave a donation to support their excellent work

An absolutely wonderful could of hours. The staff were so polite and professional and in abundance. The number of you children whom were really enjoying it was amazing. Free entry but donation boxes around. A lovely cafe. The older …. Myself…. Loved every bit to see such a rich focus on aviation. The obviously meteors, a great section on Frank whittle, but also the likes of smiths industries, dowry undercarriage and propellers. Wonderful.

Just a interesting way to spend a few hours with a grand daughter. She loved it and we loved it. Lots of exhibits packed into this hanger and even a cockpit for children and one for those a little older to experience. The displays are vey informative and we finished with a drink in the cafe. I need to come back to learn more

First off - it is amazing that it is free! Staffed by a loyal and enthusiastic team of volunteers. Fair shout to them (we did, of course, make a donation).
We found the whole museum really interesting with some real history with the planes and jet engines. Our lad was able to sit in a cockpit and we enjoyed going into the Trident plane/cockpit that they had there. Planes from a different era but so impressive.
Not the biggest museum but would highly recommend.

Spent a couple of hours here today. Lots of interesting information about Gloucestershire’s role in the aircraft industry.
A lovely small exhibition (on loan) of hand stitched tapestries celebrating local RAF bases was an added bonus.
Friendly, helpful staff and volunteers and a nice coffee in the small cafe

This museum is absolutely fantastic. Not only a vital part of Gloucestershire heritage, but a museum of national aviation importance. Totally ran by volunteers, who are exceptionally knowledgeable and welcoming. Impressive display of restored aircraft. Would like to see the work carried out here supported by the RAF.
You can also sit in the picnic area watching the planes and helicopters coming and going at the airport next door.

Great day out, good weather, interesting reading about Mr Whittle & the development of the Jet engine, sunny weather which made the Spitfire Flyover quite spectacular although a bit short - two fly over’s about a 60 seconds in total, but over all a great spot, just to watch the planes landing and taking off from the run way plenty of Tables with a view – take a picnic.
Whilst walking around the Museum I saw the model kits that are glued together and painted not unlike the Airfix models I used to make as kid, so as we had seen the spitfires I bought my boy a kit which as it turns out is not quite a kit.
I don’t mind paying slightly over the odds for the Revell super marine spitfire (03953) as its for a good cause it’s just when my boy opened the box – no glue – no paint with Airfix it’s an inclusive all in one kit - The Model, the Glue and the Paint. With Revel this is extra so he wasn’t able to build the model.
I checked on line, using Revell - separate Model, Glue and paint - to Build the Spitfire breaks down like this - Model £7.00, Glue £4.50 and a pack of the six miniatures paints requires £9 - so on or about £20 not counting the paint brush.
Whereas the Airfix kit, is actually is a kit, glue, paint and all, they even supply a Paint Brush total cost on or about £10.
Whilst I was pricing this up on line remembering the Jet age museum is beating the drum for Britain - the Dunkirk sprit kind of thing – which is good but as if to add insult to injury – Revell is now apparently a Germanic Company. So come on guys I’m sure if you had a chat to the bods at Airfix may be invite them down for a Tour and explained that it’s all for a good cause etc they would let you sell their model KITS at cost price.
Apart from the Model Aircraft scandal (joke) this was a good day out and we will be returning, Thanks. Matt & Sarah.

We do also have a treasure hunt for younger visitors finding our mascot 'Piggles' to spell out a word. The children win a small prize for completing the trail. As mentioned, Biggles, our play 'plane is perfect for under 8's and our Gnat and Hunter cockpits are suitable for children.
