I had a animal encounter for myself a d my husband we really enjoyed it had a great time the staff were very knowledgeable and made us feel at home and the animals were very well behaved

This is probably one of the worst places I have visited with my grandchildren
Went on a Monday after school hols had finished.
Not much to see, realise that not all animals would be visible if sleeping, but even the ones we did manage to see looked restless, bored and unhappy
My granddaughter went on the inflatable there that is surrounded by sand, Only to get cat faeces all over her feet which she then got on her hands before I could stop her. She is 3 years old and to get it off had to use a packet of wipes and wash her feet in the toilets under cold water (no warm water available)
She was so upset and totally put paid to a crap visit
We complained and they weren’t at all bothered even after stressing the health implications had she got it in her eyes or mouth
Never go again and can’t stress how much this place is a let down in all avenues

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your visit to us and would like to take this opportunity to respond to your concerns.
We have over 400 animals of 100 different species on site, some of which are rescues and do show undesirable behaviours. Our keepers are work hard in rectifying these but they do take time - we do have signs in place explaining that. We give all our animals plenty of hiding spaces but most of their bed boxes can be seen into. We do have signs in place on most enclosures explaining where to try and see them.
I apologise profusely about the cat faeces. We have several domestic cats on site and we do carefully check areas such as the inflatable each morning in case they have chosen to toilet there. Obviously on that particular occasion a piece must have been missed (or the cat had gone afterwards) and I can only apologise regarding that. To suggest that our staff weren't bothered is totally unfair and incorrect. When you complained, it was immediately reported to our cleaning staff who went straight round to check and clean by the pillow. We have also increased our cleaning check frequency. Our front desk staff were going to offer you a free ticket as a gesture of goodwill but unfortunately couldn't find you after speaking to the manager.

Staff was very knowledgeable on the animals. Look well looked after and out in the fresh air too. Beautiful day spent at Hoo Zoo. Will be booking to go again in the near future thats for sure.

Such a great day out!. We were given an experience gift voucher pre-covid and the zoo was so helpful in extending the voucher for us. We finally got to visit yesterday and had a brilliant day. The zoo is a lovely size with a great mix of animals and there are clear conservation messages everywhere too.
We loved our meerkat, lemur and serval experience - a little disappointed that Zeus the serval didn't really want to spend time with us but totally appreciate that all the experiences are animal-led and the staff clearly have their welfare as top priority. Beth was so knowledgeable about all the animals we met and was a great host.
All in all a great day out and we will definitely be returning.

fantastic zoo and log cabin visited saturday lovely staff and enjoyable zoo the girls loved the dinasaur experiance all animals looked well looked after and large enclosures enjoyed feeding them as well stayed over night in the log cabin with hot tub would highly reccommend fantasticly clean and so quiet couldnt fault anything the owner showed us how hot tub worked and told us he was at hand if we needed anything brilliant day out and will definatly revisit walking around the racoons and wallabys was amazing

Excellent day at the Zoo. Staff are fantastic.
The animals are so well cared for, and we had an amazing experience feeding the raccoons and having a skunk placed on our lap was truly beautiful.

Absolutely amazing day here. A lovely variety of animals to see. We did the raccoon experience and as well as meeting a raccoon, met raccoon dogs and a beautiful friendly skunk. Staff were very friendly and helpful

I brought my mum for a Carnivore experience day and had no idea what to expect. We were really pleasantly surprised, for quite a small animal park the animals are extremely well kept with great enclosures and plenty of space.
The staff are super friendly and informative and really made the experience a memorable one.
I can't recommend it enough and it was definitely worth our 3 hour drive!

Meet the cats experience, where we were able to meet and stroke and feed Surveils, meerkats and leaders in there home. The Surveils are completely different characters, one loved being stroked and enjoyed the attention and the other was more reserved, they have to be respected. The rest of the zoo is also very interesting.

Such a fab time! We did a meerkat experience which was amazing! The keeper was great, had a lot of knowledge which he shared and answered all our of questions! And the meerkats were just super adorable!
The Dinosaur world was mind blowing! It was incredible, a must for people of all ages!

Didn't see any when we were there, and there are a lot of roaming cats, so your dog might not appreciate a visit there.

We did the experience and was around 4-4:30 hours in total at the zoo.
I've read that oaths are gravel and tricky for wheelchairs. What does everyone think? Is it that bad for. Chairs? Thanks

We've tested different wheelchairs on site and some areas are difficult, however most pathways are possible as the gravel is now very compacted.
If possible we recommend using wheelchairs with larger wheels.

Going to be in the area in july and looking for something to do, will it be well suited for my son who will have just turned 2? Will be mostly for him that were there

I appreciate you asked this question quite a while ago but yes, this is a great place for a 2 year old. I would suggest keeping your toddler close though, as it is a working farm and tractors and workers to go by with machinery etc.

2 if us (party of 4) want to do the meerkat experience, 2 are a little scared. Woul they be allowed to come with us and take pictures for us? And of course pay to go around the farm?

one part if the meerkat experience was inside so they probably wouldn't be allowed to go inside there but the other is in a outdoor enclosure they would be able to watch and take pictures of that part for sure x

Yes you share with other people - we shared with another couple but it was fine. You get to spend your own time with the animals and it is not rushed at all.
