La promenade des palois par beau temps. Départ du château d'Henri IV, arrivée au parc Beaumont. Un kilomètre inoubliable avec l'ancien hôtel Gassion, le monument aux morts, la place royale, la mairie, le funiculaire, et le palais Beaumont. avec en fond de tableau la vue sur les différents sommets des Pyrénées. C'est vraiment la visite incontournable si vous passez à PAU.

Une superbe promenade un incontournable de Pau.
Magnifique vue sur les Pyrénées enneigé d'un côté de l autre de remarquables bâtiments art déco.

À pieds ou à vélos vous pourrez admirer les coteaux béarnais et avec les Pyrénées en fond. Magnifique toute l'année, les belles journées d'hiver sont le meilleur moment de l'hiver pour admirer cette vue.

Pau, located on a south-facing hill, offers great views of the Pyrenees mountain range. To fully enjoy this attraction, the idea came up of a boulevard, so people could go on a stroll while enjoying this sight. In the second half of the 19th century Pau was one of the most fashionable places in Europe for wealthy foreigners to spend the winter months, thanks to its pleasant climate and to a book by a Scottish doctor. Most of them were British, later joined by Americans, who brought their lifestyle and pastime along, like golf, steeplechasing or foxhunting.
But the Belle Epoque was also the time of the flaneur, to wander around without purpose, maybe just to see and to be seen. Where could that have been more pleasant than at a boulevard with a view. To create this an engineer was approached, Adolphe Alphand, known as the father of the green spaces in Paris, who said that Pau needs its 'Promenade des Anglais' like Nice and who made the first plans for it. A long arcade was erected, on which the Boulevard now stands. It is well visible, when coming up from the railway station.
The Boulevard, mostly closed for cars and extending from the Château de Pau to the Beaumont Park, gets reached from the Railway Station, that used to bring all visitors in the old days, by a 'Funiculaire' since 1908. At the Boulevard, lined with fan palms, are several grand buildings, but also cafés and restaurants, where one can take a break.

Absolutely beautiful city with classical architecture and friendly vibes. The locals don't speak too much english and so expect to speak or translate with locals.

Es un paseo muy largo bordeando el pueblo, en la zona que cambia de altura. Si es de día y está despejado, tiene unas vistas muy bonitas. Incluso están marcados los picos.
Para ir con niños está muy bien.
A mitad de camino está el funicular y en un extremo está el castillo.

Un boulevard magnifique avec la vue sur la chaîne des Pyrénées. On s’y promène pour admirer ce paysage exceptionnel, il faut venir y flâner pour prendre la mesure de la ville.
Seulement 4 étoiles car le sol est fait d’un gravillon peu agréable et salissant surtout lorsque le temps est pluvieux.

We parked in a large car park near the city centre and walked around enjoying the ancient buildings, the monument to fallen soldiers is very interesting as is the view of the mountains.

Amazing views on a clear day. very clean and safe, plenty of cafes for pitstops. Beautiful historic buildings.

Endroit à voir pour sa belle vue, promenade agréable . Tout près du château de Pau et du funiculaire. J'y reviendrai.

Hi. Loads of on street parking. Please don't use the hospital. That is there for doctors, nurses, and people visiting. There are several above ground parks near the centre as well. Place de Verdun is a massive car park as well. Not expensive.

Ce n'est pas directement sur le boulevard des Pyrénées, mais a quelques mètres... Je vous conseille le restaurant "les pipelettes" - vous trouverez l'adresse exacte sur TripAdvisor - rubrique restaurant sur Pau.
