A very nice experience. A small but pretty museum. Much depends of course on the exhibitions. While we were there there was an exposition with works from Chantal Akerman (not so much my cup of tea) and Tina Barney, which I enjoyed very much.

Very beautiful exhibition of this committed photographer, an Italian who became Mexican. His period in the USSR from 1930 to 1937 did not result in photographic activity.

Jeu de Paume has many highly ambitious contemporary art exhibitions.
This time, I was interested in the exhibition of works by a Mexican female photographer.
Although she is Mexican, she is an immigrant from Italy. I thought she was Mexican when I saw her portraits. I was surprised when I saw her background.
In Italy, she dropped out of school at the age of 13 and continued to work for her family. She went to the United States to become a photographer's assistant and mistress, and acquired photography skills. She moved to Mexico and focused on women, immigrants, and workers and farmers, always conscious of her lower-class background.
She is so Mexican that she said, "I'm always a foreigner in America, but in Mexico I feel like I'm in my home country." She was also friends with Frida Kahlo.
One of her works was a mother breastfeeding her baby, and I was fascinated by how natural and unpretentious it was.
There was a video playing, which showed what Mexico was like at the time, which was also interesting.
★The location is right in front of the Place de la Concorde. Inside the Tuileries Gardens. You can always enter without having to queue, so you can just drop in whenever you feel like it. There are toilets, a shop, and a cafe inside the store.

Photographer, activist, citizen of the world, she lived in Italy, Mexico, the Soviet Union, and Spain. A woman with an exceptional destiny, Tina Modotti has long been forgotten. The Jeu de Paume presents the largest exhibition in France of his work created mainly in Mexico in the 1920s, most of it period, including many previously unpublished works.
A beautiful and large exhibition that is worth a look… Bravo to the Jeu de Paume!

Cameron's photographic career was brief but intense. She received her first camera at the age of forty-eight, in 1863, and immediately began photographing her loved ones, family, domestic workers, famous neighbors and residents of her village.
Few 19th-century photographers received as much attention as Julia Margaret Cameron. Abundantly criticized during her lifetime for the freedom she showed with regard to the conventions of photography of her time, admired at the same time for the inspired character of her portraits.

An absolutely breathtaking exhibition of the work of Frank Horvat.
The journey of a photographer-reporter with a keen sense of observation, knowing how to capture the magical moment, rightly courted by the most prestigious fashion magazines because he is equally talented for the skillfully studied posed portrait, which returned at the end of career to his first love (somewhat formatted by the codes of haute couture, from my point of view).
Film noir, sci-fi and futuristic vibes in some shots. In short, a huge emotional slap. Why is this artist less known than Helmut Newton? The mystery is complete.
Hats off also to the exhibition curators and other contributors for the work of contextualization, spatialization and selection of photos.
