Nos amis nous avaient parlé d’un bar de quartier, du quartier latin, mais avec une spécialité, celle des cocktails. Ce qui a été la surprise, c’est sa devanture discrète, au 14 rue Hautefeuille, du célèbre et incontournable, Castor Club. Une fois passé la porte, le charme s’accompli, avec son décor boisé, de planches brutes, son ambiance chic et rétro, au accents british des clubs de Gentlemen's, ou de bars clandestins américains. Côté carte, treize créations de cocktails, à 14 €, de qualité, avec des saveurs originales. Mais, l’envie cocktail sur mesure peut être réalisé par le barman, à la demande. Nous avons dégusté, deux Chirac 95, composé de calvados, génépi, shrub aux pommes, blanc d’œuf et citron et deux Tomoko Point, composé de scotch, shochu coréen, chartreuse jaune, sirop d’abricot sec, lavande, citron jaune et champagne brut. Ensuite nous avons été faire quelques pas de danse au sous-sol, dans le dancing vouté, en pierres apparentes, tamisé à la lumière des bougies, sur des musiques pop/rock/country. Réception, sur réservation, de 35 personnes, pour de l’évènementiel.

I found Castor mentioned online when researching bars near the hotel. It really is a 'secret bar' with no signage and you wouldn't know by walking past.
The cocktail menu is different to the usual cocktails offered. All Euro14 and all totally handmade in front of you.

Avec une entrée digne d'un bar clandestin, vous rentrez dans un univers digne des années folles : lumière tamisée, jazz chill & déco soignée, tout y est.
Les barmen sont sympathiques, à votre écoute.
La carte est grande et le rapport qualité/prix (14 euros) est vraiment bon. Les cocktails sont tous excellents

Bar atypique tout en bois et à l'entrée bien cachée... Les cocktails que nous avons pris étaient bons, le serveur était sympa également. Une bonne expérience.

Excellent Cocktail Bar! Staff were great and super polite! Best cocktail I have had in a long time.
Ignore what a lot of the comments say about staff being rude to “English” people (this probably due to individuals speaking English rather than trying to learn and speak a bit of French when abroad). Unsurprising.
Would go back!

Les cocktails sont excellents et assez originaux.
Le tarif est habituel pour Paris (14€/cocktail).
Par contre le bar est petit et plutôt inconfortable et il n’y a rien à grignoter en dégustant sa boisson.
Au total, malgré quelques défauts, un incontournable en matière de bons cocktails.

Amis nocturiens, vous sortez d'un bar qui ferme et pensez trouver refuge dans ce bar ? Passez votre chemin, ce bar est une misère. La raison ? Le personnel. Baston garantie, aigritude assurée, prentention inutile. Un bar, une mission, mais une équipe juste excrecable. Et tres honnêtement, le bar est random et rien aux alentours. Bref, passez votre chemin, conseil d'ami.

I saw reviews for this on google and it was near the restaurant we had just celebrated my boyfriend’s birthday at. It looked cool and I love the idea of a speakeasy. However... The bouncer i.e. the terribly impolite man at the door, was outright awful and made us feel very unwelcome. He was playing on his phone, so I imagine the unwelcome interruption of patrons must have ruined that for him. The bar didn’t look crazily busy as it was a weeknight, so I have no idea why he had to be so rude.
I’ve since read in other reviews that there is a bouncer who is exceptionally unpleasant to English people. I strongly recommend this man is reprimanded, as he is losing the club business. Thankfully we found a much nicer bar to go to nearby, where the staff were delightful.

Très bonne adresse de bar à cocktails, l’endroit n’est vraiment pas très grand et ne dispose que d’un bar (pas de tables pour s’assoir). Les cocktails sont très bien dans une ambiance chaleureuse (tout en bois)

Un bel endroit : le cadre, les cocktails sont excellent mais tous cela est gâché par le personnel et notamment la personne à l’entrée qui a été très désagréable, sûrement une envie d’user de son pouvoir sans raison apparente. Je ne reviendrai pas.
