This is a masssive museum with encrible artwork that walks you through time. The museum is made of three buildings as it has grown through time and I found it very difficuly to visit in a logical and menaingful manner. Likemany things in France, it´s a museum for the French and not al friendly to tourists. This was very disheartening and the only way to make some sense of what is before you, is to hire the guide track. Please do hire one if you aren´t fluent in French: you´ll mis all the fun.

Pas ou peu de réduction
La politique de la ville ne souhaite pas développer la culture pour tous.
Bien dommage pour une si belle collection de ce petit musée.

Un fonds intéressant mais un accueil à revoir.
Un musée mal signalé et difficile à trouver lorsque l on vient en tram.
À 17h45, les toilettes étaient déjà fermées.
Alors que nous étions en canicule rouge, nous avons dû laisser notre gourde à l' accueil.

Worth visiting if you have limited time in Montpellier. We were only in the city for one day, and chose the Fabre Museum as one of the few attractions we visited. There is a huge amount of art to see, both modern and old. A great collection from across Europe. A slightly pricy entry fee, however given the scale of the exhibition it was worth the entry fee.

Museum met en schitterende collectie aan met name schilderijen. Leuk ook dat er een grote collectie uit de Lage Landen is. De entree bedroeg € 9, een nette prijs. Enige nadeel is dat het museum soms een doolhof leek.

Loved to the wonderful paintings collection! Also, the local artists were being supported in the Musee Fabre.

Splendido museo ricco di opere d'arte di artisti grandemente famosi. La qualità dei dipinti e delle sculture è altissima e la visita richiede attenzione e interesse. Personalmente ci sono stato dalle 10 alle 17,30, compresa una breve pausa pranzo. Impossibile segnalare opere particolarmente belle e significative anche se sono rimasto a lungo a osservare l'Infilatrice Di Perle di Frans van Mieris (ignorato dai più). Mi chiedo: ma tutta quella gente che entra nei musei, oltretutto pagando un biglietto, e poi percorre le sale senza guardare le opere esposte, cosa ci va a fare?

Would the Musee Fabre be suitable for children of 10 and 14 years old? Do we need to pre-book tickets or can we just buy tickets on the day? Is there a restaurant or cafe inside? Thanks. Li

Hi,
Yes, you can visit with children, i often go to this museum with mines.
Of course, you can buy tickets when you arrive and want to visit (i think just a little number of visitors buy before the visit with Internet).
There is a restaurant, not really inside, beside, on the same place (you can easily see it with google streets).
There is a museum's shop inside, with lot of books and objects in relation with the museum's collection and the temporaries exhibitions.
