المكان كئيب والمدينة صغيرة لاتستحق الزيارة، الشئ الجيد الوحيد هو وجود مطعم تونسي اسمه مطعم قرطاج Restaurant Le Carthage يقدم طعام ممتاز، الكسكس عنده ممتاز، والبرغر لذيذ جداً على الرغم من إني لست مِن محبي البرغر، سعر المطعم أغلى قليلاً من الأسعار المتعارف عليها ولكنه يستحق، مدينة لاروشيل لاتستحق العناء باستثناء هذا المطعم .

مكان رائع لبدء الزيارة حيث توجد بعض مواقف السيارات بالقرب من الفندق. حديقة الأحياء المائية ومعلومات سياحية أيضا بالقرب من، والكثير من المطاعم. خارج المنطقة الرئيسية الكثير من الشوارع مع مجموعة متنوعة من فرص التسوق - منطقة لطيفة للغاية

مكان رائع للسير حول الاستمتاع بالمناظر على الميناء، المقاهي والمطاعم في الهواء الطلق، لا تزال الأبنية القديمة وهو أبعد قليلاً من المتاجر الجميلة. ومن حركة المرور تقريبا - إنه مجاني أخرى من وسائل النقل العام، لذا فهو هادئة نوعا ما. مكان جميل للاسترخاء على بعد بضع ساعات.

مكان رائع للسير. الكثير من المطاعم المأكولات البحرية جيدة. المناظر الطبيعية الخلابة. التحصينات ضخمة عند المدخل.

مقهى رائع, S والعديد من الحانات، كلها بأسعار معقولة، بالإضافة إلى العديد من الفنادق الرائعة ممتاز رحلات بالقارب إلى ilse de ريا وغيرها من الأماكن.

I don't recall a motorhome parking at the harbor, but there is parking - not necessary for overnight stays around

I have been to La Rochelle several times in the summer and enjoyed the lively harbour in the evening but am thinking of visiting in March , can anyone tell me if the harbour is still as lively

In Maarch? nope. that is, all the bars etc are already open, none of them actuall close for winter, like further south? but, this is actually nice (apart from the fact that in La Rochelle? it is a really long, wet winter!
but, head on down to Le Cav a So chez Gabut... get Sophie to make you a nice warm tea (later on you can switch to some of her excellent wines).. you will be "just around the corner" from the main harbor, but still actually on it, (the left arm, if you are looking down)..
actually, in the three years I lived there I liked this time, there are nearly no tourists.. summer is pure madness..

Je recherche des images de mes 18-20 ans; les restaurants de fruits de mer du vieux port, la "boîte-dancing" La Boucane, et tous documents d'archives ayant contribué à promouvoir le mirage des belles filles de La Rochelle. J'étais alors élève radariste au Centre de la Marine nationale de Rochefort... (et sa plage réputée de FOURAS..??!). Nous venions souvent à La BOUCANE "draguer" les jolies filles qui commençaient à se "lâcher grave" après l'arrivée de la pillule.C'était extraordinairement humain en comparaison du totalitarisme actuel des téléphones portables dans la communication interhumaine. J'espère ( pour leur bien..!) que les jeunes ne s'arrêtent pas tous à cette injonction technologique folle du comportement collectif actuel.

Thank you this is a great help. As we don't have a lot of time in La Rochelle we plan to stay around the old port and main port terminal so we can get back to the ship in good time.

Definitely loads to see . Make sure you see the Aquarium. It's at the port near the towers. Takes about an hour to fully enjoy!!

Could anyone tell me what this port is like for disabled people in wheelchairs and are there plenty of disabled access toilets and places where we could eat. We are coming in on a P&O cruise in June this year and i am just trying to get as much information on the area as i can before we travel

I am partially disabled (crutches) and didn't take the bus. The ferry is accessible IIRC and the ride is quite nice if the weather is good. The port area is very compact, easy to navigate. The main streets are no problem, the side streets only occasionally. As long as you don't want to visit out of the centre attractions, everything can be done on foot. If the ship's schedule allows it try being on land at dusk.
Public toilets are sparse and restaurants generally don't have fully equipped toilets for invalids, but if you are willing to improvise and ask ahead of time, people quite often go out of their way to be helpful. It's a nice place to visit and risks are minimal, so I encourage you to take a deep breath and just do it.
