‪The Best Stewarded Tour of the Beaujolais Region‬

‪No tour of Lyon or the Beaujolais region could be better guided than when hosted by energetic region-native Sebastien Girard, whose professional care is honed by years of stewardship duty with British Airways.

He knowleability of the region’s vineyards, viticulture and oenology is further proofed by his familial connection to the award-winning Chateau de Vaux, where he takes you to tour the family vinewards and down to the impressive Chateau’s thousand-year old small wine cellar to engage in a select tasting (and purchase if desired) of the winemaker’s recent gold medal winning red (Gamay) and Chardonnay wines. You are also taken on a tour of the actual wine-making farm operation, where you are walked through the wine-making process from grapes to barrel fermentation and storage.

He then takes you on a most educational tour of the lovely southern Beaujolais countryside, discussing the various vineyards, their crus and their terroir in great detail, distinguishing their features and characteristics from other great French growths such as the Bordeaux, etc.

A high point of your tour is being taken for a wonderful generously-served regional lunch at “La Table du Donjon” in the historic hilltop village of Oingt with its spectacular views of the valley vineyards below, followed by a moving tour of the beautiful medieval village’s buildings, houses, walled gate, the thousand-year old fortified castle’s remains, including its old rockspur chapel, and the outstanding countryside surrounds.

Sebastien’s tour is private and van-driven by himself, with customizable site visits and hours, and pick-up/drop-off location service at request.

He is a bon homie guide par excellence.‬

‪FULL DAY BEAUJOLAIS WINE TOUR‬

‪Sebastian did an excellent job escorting us through the beautiful Beaujolais countryside and villages. As his origins were from this area, he shared much more than what I would expected from a typical tour.

The town of Oingt was exceptional and hard to forget. Frankly the whole place was terrific. The vineyards, the Beaujolais wine process and the wines themselves was well presented. My wife congratulated me for making this tour choice at the end .

I based the selection based on the passion that Sebastian showed in his original emails describing the tours. His description lived up to his words‬

‪Professional tour with a personal touch - in English‬

‪This is one of the best tours I have experienced!

What a great way to visit the Beaujolais wine region and learn sbout its history and wines. We did a half a day tour with Sebastian in a group of eight. This was a very professional tour with a personal touch. Sebastian is very knowledgeable about the region, the wine production and his family vineyard. The wine tasting itself was also great and we tried out some fantastic wines. Highly reccomended.‬

‪Sebastian + wine = amazing!‬

‪Sebastian picked us up at our Airbnb in Lyon and took us to Oignt and his family vineyard. He was incredible! We loved learning about the Beaujolais and the attitude towards wine here that is so different from Bordeaux and other areas. The wine was incredible and affordable. We loved lunch, and learning from Sebastian.‬

‪1/2 Day tour in Beaujolais with wine tasting‬

‪We had no idea what to expect. So, we were pleasantly surprised when this tour turned out so well. Sebastien picked us up at the Tourist Office in Lyon, and we were on our way. He is a fascinating guy, and gives us a lot of information about the Beaujolais region. Our first stop is Oingt - a restored mediaeval village. Then we drive on to Sebastien’s family’s winery. Sebastien explains the wine-making process, and then offers samples of some of their wines – we enjoyed all of them. All-in-all, it was a great way to see some of the countryside around Lyon, with interesting insights into the Beaujolais region and tasting some very nice wines.‬

‪Fantastic tour with a great tour guide‬

‪We went to Lyon as a group of couples, looking to do a tour around the wine region and luckily found Sebastian, who was gracious enough to pick us up from our hotel and take us around the area. The tour was fantastic, kinda the only way to explain it.

Sebastian was really friendly and spoke excellent English (which is not common around these parts), was very knowledgeable about the region, the wines and really kept the group well entertained. Loved the personal touches he included throughout the tour and absolutely loved being able to visit his family vineyard and hear about his personal story and the story of his family.

Would recommend this tour to anyone that wants to enjoy and experience the wine regions around Lyon‬

‪Great Trip To A Family Vineyard‬

‪Sébastien hosted a trip to the historic village of Onigt and his family wine vineyard. He provided detailed information on the process of making Beaujolais wine from start to finish. The wine tasting in a historic wine cellar that his family has owned for six generations was entertaining and delicious. We wish we had a way to buy and enjoy more excellent wine from Chateau de Vaux.‬

‪A fantastic day in the Beaujolais‬

‪I was looking to get out of Lyon for a day to explore the countryside, and I was fortunate enough to have found Sebastian for a private tour (there aren't many group tours because of a slumping tourism industry due to Covid). Traveling with Sebastian is more like traveling with a friend than a tour guide, although he is an excellent guide. He took me to the medieval town of Oingt and then to his family's winery, where I tasted wine while enjoying a Lyonnaise snack of saucisson and cheese. I would wholeheartedly recommend Sebastian as your guide. My day with him in the Beaujolais was one of the best during my three-week stay in France.‬

‪Sebastian was a fantastic tour guide for our afternoon in the Beaujolais! We learned a lot about the area, got to see beautiful scenery, and taste delicious wine. A must do if you're in Lyon!!‬

‪Wine is Good, everything else is Meh‬

‪Wine was good but, I felt a lot was cut out. Not sure if it was a busy time, but we did not follow itinerary. It all felt rushed and cut short.‬
