This statue appears almost out of nowhere in front of the Munich Re building on Leopoldstrasse. It is quite impressive in person and gives the street a sense of motion through the gorgeous trees around it.

I took a 1.5 mile walk from my hotel early one morning to see the Walking Man of Munich and I am glad I did as it is a fun and unusual landmark. Walking Man is a 1995 sculpture by Jonathan Borofsky that stands 17 metres (56 ft) tall and weighs in at 16 tonnes (35,000 lb). It is located on the Leopoldstraße in Munich, next to the Munich Re business premises. It was presented to the public on 21st September 1995. The sculpture was initially created in Los Angeles, taking more than a year to complete and made its way to Munich in nine pieces. It is well worth a visit and is a popular sculpture with visitors.

Escultura curiosa en la zona de la universidad. No es una visita imprescindible pero no pasará desapercibida si vas por la calle en la que se encuentra.

Im Sommer durch die Bäume etwas verdeckt aber im Winter gut zu bewundern. Es handelt sich um eine große Skulptur vor einer Versicherung. Der Walking Man wurde vor ca. 25 Jahren dort aufgestellt und ist m.E. eine Bereicherung für München und für die Leopoldstrasse.

"Идущий человек" установлен на Леопольдштрассе в 1995 году у входа в Мюнхенское перестраховочное общество. Глядя на эту фигуру можно подумать, что она олицетворяет корпоративную философию данной организации – динамизм, рост и прогресс для своих клиентов. Мы так и не поняли, куда мчится паренек. Коллекция произведений современного искусства перестраховочного общества насчитывает более трех тысяч произведений.

"Шагающий человек" был установлен в районе Швабинг напротив Мюнхенской страховой компании 18 лет назад. Вес "шагающего человека" 16 тонн, высота 17 метров.

Quite a huge sculpture with simple curves. Very cool although near impossible to get a good photo as there are very tall trees very close by. Removing the trees would make the sculpture much more enjoyable.

While I had read about this statue, I had no idea of the scale and was totally awed when I first viewed it. It is five stories high! The fact that it is white and totally clean and unmarred is also a marvel. This piece of public art rocks!
