Easy to find, this cemetery is located at one of the entrances to the old town. There’s a wall around the cemetery, but several gates you can use to get inside.
It’s a pretty cemetery, with interesting grave markers. I spent about 30 minutes walking through them. It’s not a very big cemetery, so you can see it all in a short amount of time.

Sehr schöner alter Friedhof beim Franziskaner Kloster. Teilweise stehen Verstorbene von 1890 auf dem Grabstein bis heute, mit Berufen, das ist sehr interessant. Die Inschriften sin sehr schön verschnörkelt und teilweise in sütterlin geschrieben

Also Friedhöfe bewerten ist schon etwas skurril. Aber dieser mit alten Inschriften mit Berufen usw ist schon besonders. Das findet man nicht so oft.

Tja wat doe je daar zou je zeggen, het is er sereen, oude goed bewaarde graven . Maakt je nieuwsgieriger , om verder te kijken.

So nach und nach alle Sehenswürdigkeiten in Füssen abgelaufen. Dabei auch hier vorbei geschaut und den historischen Ort bewundert.

very nice place to visit, have a special charm walking arrount and imagine history of people lived in the city . really special place, from my point of view, but to se and experience

Unweit der belebten Fußgängerzone in der Innenstadt befindet sich hinter dem Pulverturm angelehnt an die mittelalterliche Stadtmauer der alte Friedhof mit der Sebastianskirche (leider geschlossen).
Nach Möglichkeit suche ich bei jedem Stadtrundgang den örtlichen Friedhof auf, einmal um Ruhe zu finden und zum andern sind auch die Inschriften auf den alten Grabsteinen von ortsbekannten Persönlichkeiten und auch heute nicht mehr existierenten Berufen interessant.
Der wohl prominenteste Verstorbenen, direkt am Eingang begraben, ist Domenico Quaglio, den König Maximilian II mit der Bauleitung für das Schloss Hohenschwangau beauftragt hatte und der leider noch während den Bauarbeiten verstarb (Inschrift auf dem Grabstein).
In einem eingezäunten separaten Bereich um ein Kreuz mit einem Tor zum daneben liegenden Kloster werden offenbar die Franziskaner Mönche begraben.

Je kan hier even door heen lopen, want er zijn twee toegangen. Altijd bijzonder zo’n begraafplaats. Na vijf of zes uur is het gesloten.

My wife and I decided to wlak around the graveyard in Füssen this winter.With snow on the ground and hundreds of candles lit by the graves it was really quiet an experience.We were amased by all the different styles of grave stones.As we walked slowly around reading many of the headstones and reading the information about the individuals,It was a sobering thought,that the only thing we as human beings can ever be sure of,is that we will die!Old people,young people and even baby graves we found them all.The graveyard is open daily from early in the morning till dusk and is well maintained.It is worth the while to ponder how some of them died as you walk around.Some are buried,others cremated and put into urns which are then put in special areas where they have built walls with what looks like small cupboards.This is obviously done to save space.They are machines all around the graveyard where you can buy candles to put on your loved ones grave.We spent nearly 90 minutes strolling around and it was well worth it.

I travel a lot and visiting graveyards or cemetaries in the different countries is always on my list of things to do. They are all different due to religion, climate, culture etc. The cemetery in Füssen is very old (1528) and you see and feel the influence of the Christian Catholic Religion. You find several centuries of graves can read the inscriptions and see pictures of many of the occupants on their stones. To me it is always as if history touches my soul - a quiet place to think and relax.
