Nach einigen Jahren Pause mal wieder in Stralsund. Die Stadt ist einfach schön und immer wieder einen Besuch wert. Besonders der hübsche Markplatz mit dem Rathaus und anderen restraurierten Gebäuden. Dann auch noch Fischbrötchen im Hafen essen und die Gorch Fock I besuchen. Herrlich!

The old, red-brick Rathaus is a good-looking Gothic building along the market square. The building dominates the market together with the church. Parking is easiest at the "Parkhaus am Hafen" at Fährwall 11. It is a short walk to the market square.

Stralsund hat eine wunderschöne Altstadt, die man sehr gut zu Fuß besichtigen kann.
Sehenswert der Hafen incl. Gorch Fock. danach das Stadttor und den alten Markt mit dem sehenswerten Rathaus und der Nikolaikirche. Am Neuenmarkt ist man von sehr gut restaurierten alten Häusern umgeben und auch die St. Marienkirche ist von innen sehenswert.

Stralsund was the last stop of our tour of Hanseatic German towns. And it happened to be one of the most pleasant ones with its churches and townhall looking imposing and authentic.

Beautiful, a must when visiting Stralsund. The town is a major point of interest in Mecklenburg. There are so many gems to admire!

Although first mentions about the town hall comes from 13th century, when Stralsund, which at that time belonged to Principality of Rugen, has been given city rights, only around year 1400 to the nearly completed edifice monumental façade from Old Market side was added. Two-storey building on a rectangular plan with small inner courtyard has been rebuilt in first half of 18th century. This time Baroque portal and stucco were added from the side of Ossenreverstrasse Street. In 19th century, however, town hall was re-Gothicised and Baroque stucco were removed. Impressive elevation from the Alter Markt side suppose to show city's wealth and power. And Stralsund, as a member of powerful Hanseatic League, being at the peak of his success didn't drip money to show it. Interesting fact about Stralsund's Rathaus is that to elevation of every storey has been given different look. Also, in
year 1370 in the hall of city council the Treaty of Stralsund was signed, ending the conflict over trade privileges in Baltic Sea basin between Denmark and Hanseatic League. Among typical gothic motifs of representative northern façade, also known as Schaufassade, coats of arms of six Hanseatic cities can be found. It looks okay, overall.

beautiful center of the city: the city hall with its passage, in hanseatic style is of course the eye catcher. It is nice that there is a gastronomic part inside.

Dieses Bauwerk sucht seinesgleichen. Ich war völlig fasziniert von diesem Rathaus. Das Ensemble mit der Nicolai-Kirche ist beeindruckend. Ein Muss nei jedem Stralsund-Besuch.
