Three extensive floors each dedicated to a separate era of painting.
Start at the top to view the outstanding collection of late 19 - early 20 century art such as the impressionists.
Next floor down a well presented Germanic 18-19th century collection heavy on natural scenery and similar genres.
The floor one has an unrivalled collection of mediaeval paintings ( perhaps only the Siena collection surpasses it). These of course are essentially Germanic in flavour and with some stupendous alterpiece triptychs are associated with Koln’s long standing Archbishoprics.
Really one not to be missed

very good museum with many things to see.beautiful collection of arts .we spent three hours here enjoying the beauty of this meseum.

I reviewed the Wallraf-Richartz Museum 7 years ago, enthusiastically. My feelings after a second visit are practically identical. Overwhelmingly, I feel that it deserves repeated visits. especially the first-class medieval German works, which need really close attention. There are two many of these works to be able to focus on them on a rushed visit. Again, the condition of the medieval works is incredible, and I have to wonder whether they have been over-restored. In almost all cases, it's as if they were painted last week! But they should be the focus of every visitor's attention, but through repeated visits over a period of years. Otherwise, there are some interesting but not absolutely first-rate things by Monet, Ensor, Hödler, Munch, Corot, Corinth, the pointillists, Vlaminck, Cézanne, and Émile Bernard, just to name the authors of the works I particularly liked. A third floor is devoted to Baroque painting, with several significant examples of Rubens and Rembrandt, a period I'm not much interested in. A very impressive museum.

Really enjoyed our visit to this museum. Such an amazing exhibit. So many pieces that were very nice inside. I highly recommend.

My wife and I walked to this museum from our hotel; it is across the street from the House of Farina perfume store and museum. It was quite fascinating with a wide mix of artists and art, and in a special exhibit an original 1623 Portfolio of the works of William Shakespeare. Also on display were religious artifacts dating back to the 1200s (and some earlier). There are Picassos and Van Goghs for viewing as well. Even if you are not one who usually goes for art, I would suggest visiting this museum. At a price of 8 euros, it is not expensive and I believe most people will find it interesting.

Die Susanna-Ausstellung war bezüglich der Bilder hervorragend, sehr instruktiv und bereichernd die Kommentare und wissenschaftlichen Ergänzungen mithilfe des gemietetenTalky Walky. Miserabel und unwissenschaftlich hingegen waren größtenteils die neben den Bildern hängenden schematischen Erläuterungen, die offensichtlich von einer ideologisch verbrämten Me-Too- Anhängerin verfasst wurden. Nicht selten passten die einseitigen Interpretationen überhaupt nicht zu den auf den Bildern konkret zu sehenden Darstellungen.Das gleiche Bild wurde jedoch in der begleitenden Sprachausgabe mit entsprechender Differenziertheit kommentiert. Diesen Lapsus kann sich ein so berühmtes Museum eigentlich nicht erlauben. Ich nehme jedoch an,es gab hinreichend Zoff zwischen den verschiedenen Verfassern. Dr. med. Wilfried Hammacher/Schwerte

Les fonds permanents du musée sont d'une qualité et d'une variété exceptionnelles - s'y ajoutent des expositions temporaires originales, comme 'Suzanne au bain', sujet audacieux, traité tout en délicatesse !

pinacoteca dese la edad media hasta el S XIX. No es el Prado, lógicamente, pero merece la pena. Al ser municipal, venden un pase conjunto que te ahorras bastante.

Spent hours here, especially on the medieval art floor, but all of the floors were very impressive, prepare to spend a morning or afternoon there

Die laufende Ausstellung Susanna ist hochkarätig, wenn man aber als harmlose, kunstliebende Besucherin älteren Jahrgangs vom outgesourcten Wachpersonal gegängelt wird - sie haben wohl offensichtlich ihren Auftrag nicht verstanden und vestehen den Unterschied zwischen einem Museum und einem Gefängnishof nicht! - bleibt der Kunstgenuss auf der Strecke! Die Wächter vom Sicherheitsdienst konnten kaum deutsch, meinten aber, uns belehren zu müssen (wir haben nur geschaut und uns im zu der Zeit leeren Saal über die Künstler unterhalten) Keine Freude - wir sind gegangen, ohne die ganze Ausstellung zu sehen.
Das war übrigens nicht das erste Mal, dass das in diesem Museum eingesetzte Wachpersonal Besucher ungebührlich behandelt hat. Es sind ungebildete Leute, die
mit der klassischen Klientel der Museumsbesucher nichts anfangen können.
Museumsverwaltung, überdenken Sie die Personalauswahl oder Schulung!
Das war übrigens nicht das erste Mal, dass das in diesem Museum eingesetzte Wachpersonal Besucher ungebührlich behandelt hat. Es sind ungebildete Leute, die
mit der klassischen Klientel der Museumsbesucher nichts anfangen können.
