Im Geburtshaus der Mutter von Beethoven wurde 1975 ein Museum zum Gedenken an Ludwig van Beethoven errichtet.
Gezeigt wird der Welt größte Beethovensammlung im Familienbesitz, Eigentum der "Geheimrat-Julius-Wegeler-Stiftung" in Koblenz.
Einige Exponate erinnern auch an die Dichterin Sophie La Roche, die in Ehrenbreitstein wohnte. Der Eintritt ist frei.

In Koblenz I lived in the district Ehrenbreitstein in Marylin Hotel. There's not so lively as on the opposite bank of the Rhine, but there are some very interesting attractions, in addition to the famous castle. For example, the house of Beethoven's mother. She was born in it, and the composer himself grew up here. Now it is a museum, which houses the largest private collection of documents left behind by the death of composer - his letters, memories, music books with records of his compositions.
Germans carefully cherish the memory of their great countryman. So, when Beethoven's mother's house became gradually come into disrepair and dilapidated, they do not just restored it, but pulled down the stone and then re-laid using the old techniques of construction. So the facade looks the way as was in Beethoven's childhood. And now in the house, you can even visit periodic exhibitions, dedicated to the life and work of the great composer and his inner circle.

This is a truly well accomplished exhibition as are so many in the area. I often wonder if German universities do a degree in setting up exhibitions of this sort as the presentation is so well done as to hold your attention indefinately. Avery interesting insight, but take some time over it to fully gain what it has to offer.

Kaum jemand weiß, dass Beethovens Mutter hier gewohnt hat. Beethoven hatte Verbindung zu Koblenz vor allem zur Familie Wegeler, Gründer der Sektkellerei Deinhard. Ein kleines aber feines Museum in Koblenz-Ehrenbreitstein am Fuß der Festung.

Этот дом стоит и по сей день на том месте, где жила мама великого композитора. Здесь она родилась и сам Бетховен рос.
Музей открылся в 1975 году. Он хранит нотные тетради композитора, его письма и многие другие памятные вещи.
Здесь часто проходят выставки, посвященные жизни Бетховена.

Сам Бетховен, как известно, родился в Бонне, где служил по музыкальной части его дед. А вот матушка композитора родилась в Кобленце в этом самом доме. Сейчас тут музей, который хранит самое большое частное собрание документов, связанных с жизнью Бетховена – его нотные тетради, письма, воспоминания и прочее.

was very intersting indeed quite a lot to see over Beethovens life+music
Need to have several hours to spend there as over 4floors with a lot of other intersting things very good to visit

This place was closed when we were here. But it was still cool to check out. The house is nice and there are many other interesting German style homes around this neighborhood. There is also a small fountain outside the home that was used for baptisms.

Gelegen aan de voet van Ehrenbreitstein op loopafstand van het station vindt je hier een interessant museum. Het is het geboortehuis van de moeder van Beethoven met een schitterende houten trap. Uiteraard gaat het museum niet alleen over de moeder, maar ook over Beethoven zeve. Het vertelt over zijn jeugd in het betrekkelijk kleine Koblenz van zijn jeugd en over het ook niet al te grote hofleven in de plaats. Maar ik was blij er te zijn. De informatie die je er krijgt over de jeugd van Beethoven snijdt hout en als geheel geeft het museum een goed beeld van Beethovens jeugd. Het musuem is niet zo groot, maar je kunt direct door naar Ehrenbreitstein...... En ik ben dol op Beethoven.....

Unfortunately I was in Koblenz during the week and was dissapointed to find out that this attraction was only open on the weekends. It is also a fair walk from where most of the attractions are (other side of the Rhine) - rent a bike.
