We finally made it back to the island zoo. Small but fine. Just the thing. Not far away & very nice. Unfortunately the meerkats were not sewing but they were probably too cold 😅

The island zoo is an Alcatraz for animals. There are many animal welfare-related things that neither the Vet.Amt nor anyone else cares about. What are ravens doing in such a small enclosure ??Why must the ducks and swans be locked up ? The big pond is there for everyone.I worked there for a time - then small goats, if they were too much for 5 euros and loaded in bags in the cars, whether they ended up at the grill or yard I don't know.Little things could be fixed, e.g. there was a totally besotted rabbit cage, in the summer the little critters stood in the blazing sun - was abolished thanks to the many complaints.There is also every day the same food - for the donkeys e.g. small chopped carrots with something else multiplied ??From me the old donkeys Mona and Lisa always got whole carrots.Also, until recently there was no climbing possibility for the goats ! In 2014, the peacock kicked all three of its chicks to death in one day because the cage is too small. In every zoo, Leipzig, Berlin, Bernburg, they run free, they don't leave.
In 2025, there will finally be someone new to run the zoo with animal keeper training. Every year island zoo festivals take place - a horror for the animals, far too loud, far too many people, far too many cigarette butts.......
And then, what nobody sees, the nasty treatment of the people who work there - also applies to the interns.
It all belongs reduced, from me a big enclosure with the goats, sheep and donkeys.......Just look at the poor foxes !! Totally disturbed.

Insel Zoo Altenburg ist ein mini Tiergarten in der Mitte des Sees. Eintritt ist für die Kinder bis 6 Jahre frei. Die Erwachsene zahlen nur ganz geringen Eintritt. Ein paar Tiere, Streichelzoo mit zwei Ziegen. Das Futter kostet nur 0,1e. Gute Unterhaltung für die Kinder von 1 bis 3 Stunden. Gebührenpflichtiger Parkplatz vorhanden.

Toller kleiner Zoo. Genau das richtige für einen Ausflug mit einem Kleinkind. Verschiedene Tiere zum anschauen & auch zum streicheln. Ein kleiner Spielplatz mit Rutsche & Schaukel ist auch vorhanden. Man kann die Tiere auch für kleines Geld füttern. Eintritt 2,50€ pro Person ist vollkommen in Ordnung. Immer wieder einen Ausflug wert.

Ein wunderbarer Ort zum Verweilen, wir gehen jedes Jahr dort hin!
Ist natürlich nicht wie ein Zoo in Köln oder Berlin aber dieses kleine Paradies sollte unbedingt erhalten werden. Speziell für Kleinkinder geeignet!!!

Preis/Leistung passt absolut. Für einen kurzen Nachmittagsausflug sehr gut geeignet. Die Ziegen waren heute -Achtung Wortwitz- etwas bockig, die Esel und Schafe lautstark, die Erdmännchen neugierig. Alles wie es sein soll, darüber hinaus sehr gepflegt und übersichtlich, für Familien mit kleinen Kindern eine absolute Empfehlung.

Erst eine Runde mit dem Tretboot auf dem Wasser geschippert und anschließend die Tiere beobachtet. Sehr schön, kleiner angelegter Zoo.

Located on a small island in the lake. It looks well kept but not much to see og do. The teranium was closed do to Covid-19 when we visited.

Der Inselzoo,gehoert zu meinen Kindheitserinnerungen.
Sehr gepflegt und immer viel Spass.
Meine amerikanische Ehegattin und unser gemeinsamer Sohn sind auch ganz begeistert.
Der Besuch des Zoos gehoert zu unserem Altenburg Besuch.
