Must see when visiting Seville. Crowded but well worth it consider reserving tickets in advance. Beautiful architecture.

Siamo andati di proposito nel quartiere Macarena per vedere questa basilica .
La chiesa é stata costruita dal 1941 e terminata nel 1945, nel 1966 papa Paolo VI la nominó basilica minore, la prima in Siviglia.Sfolgorante per i tanti colori, bellissima la madonna che vi viene venerata, ma bellissimi anche gli altari laterali con le statue , tenuta benissimo , vale la pena vederla, penso manchi qualcosa se uno lascia Siviglia senza aver visto questa basilica.

No visit to this area is complete without a visit inside the Basilica which houses the famous statue of the Virgen de la Esperanza Macarena, standing above the main altar amid waterfalls of gold and silver.
The Basilica is open for service every day so it’s worth checking times to ensure you do not interrupt mass.
The "weeping virgin" takes centre stage during the Easter processions or Semana Santa as she is paraded through the streets on an epic 13 hr tour. Floats often weigh over a ton!

A very pretty church (as you would expect) but with one truly spectacular item that makes it stand out from the rest. The statue of the Madonna above the altar, is actually held in the float that is removed at festival time. Looking at previous photos, it appears they also change her clothing - when I visited she was wearing striking bright blue and she was your main focus, housed in the bright silver of the float provided a stunning view. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

A Basílica de Macarena (em espanhol Basílica de la Macarena) é uma igreja neo-barroca, construída em 1949 em homenagem à virgem Maria 'La Virgen de la Esperanza Macarena'. A estátua da Virgem está rodeada de relíquias caras, acima do grande altar da Basílica.

Stupenda chiesa fuori dal centro città, la sua Madonna è molto venerata dagli appartenenti a quella Hermanidad, è possibile fare un giro da dietro per apprezzare al meglio da vicino la statua stessa e, tramite 2 specchi appositamente posizionati, apprezzare entrambi i lati del suo viso. Tutte le cappelle al suo interno sono in stile estremamente caratteristico, merita sicuramente una visita.

Como todo lo relacionado con iglesia, solo se puede ver muy poco gratuitamente. ademas estan unos señores en la puerta solicitando un dinero para niños(diciendo que si se puede ver, cosa que noes cierta) Como siempre existen alguos "listos" consentidos por la iglesia. No volvere a verla, lo poco que nos dejaron

Basílica del siglo XX, que por fuera no dice mucho. Por dentro tiene un retablo muy bonito con la imagen de la Esperanza Macarena...sin más. Importante de ver por la tradición

Hola... que quieres saber de la Basílica? Lo que sí puedo adelantarte es que ir a Sevilla y no visitarla es un pecado imperdonable.!!! es bellísima y como yo acostumbro ir a misa los domingos dondequiera que me encuentre , fué grato coincidir el dia y el sitio....!! otra bellisima Catedral es la e Málaga...pero ese es otro destino.... saludos.

Bonjour,
C'est la Vierge de l'espérance, dite "La Macarena".
C'est une Vierge très populaire que l'on fait défiler durant la semaine sainte.
Elle date du 17ème , sculptée par un inconnu, les Sévillans sont persuadés que ce chef d'oeuvre n'a pu voir le jour que par l'intervention d'un ange.

If you are eligible, you might try a senior double pass that allows entrance to both the Basilica and the Cathedral. We had no line at the Basilica and bought the double there. The line at the Cathedral was huge but because we had already purchased our tickets we could use the group/advance purchase line which moved very rapidly.
I want to know the schedule of a tour in the morning from? to ? time?

We visited as part of a Rick Steves Tour group. Besides our Tour Leaders, we also had a wonderful local guide, Conception, who toured us through the Basilica/Museum. We were there in very late morning, just about Noon. Since the tour was arranged, I can't provide you with hours. Ck the Rick Steves Spain Guidebook, it may be there! Also Conception can be "hired" for personal tours. Her info is in his book as well. Sorry I don't have your exact answer. But enjoy your trip!
