A little jewel that one does not always expect in provinces. It's worth a while.
With works by Goya, Murillo, Zurbarán, Berruguete, Miró, Picasso, Dalí, Blanchard, Tapies, Millares, Solana, Arroyo, Aurelio Suárez, Valle, Piñole, Carreño Miranda, Regoyos, ...
I would highlight: the spectacular Altarpiece of Santa Marina del Maestro Palanquinos, the Sorolla on the beach, the Anglada-Camarasa (Campesinos de Gandía), the San Pablo de El Greco..

The exhibit in the special exhibition was from the Zaragoza Museum.
It conveyed the maturation of art and culture in the Edo period.
There was also a work by Tsuguharu Fujita that I loved in the Oviedo Museum of Art outside of the Edo period.
I also felt nostalgic for the 42nd post station "Miya-shukuba" which was the playground of my childhood and was the 53rd post station to be selected as the best sightseeing spot by Utagawa Hiroshige.
I had a blissful time.
Thank you.

I was pleasantly surprised by the museum, it is a pass, art on all four sides and free, something unheard of having the level it has.
But the best of any space we do people and there comes Ana one of the bedeles that there is for the museum, today February 18 specifically was in the palace Velarde... anything that is said about her falls short, loves what she does and that is what she transmits, again thank you Ana, I hope you get this public thanks, you are a professional at the level of the museum, you are a jewel, generous and professional. And as promised we will recommend the museum to anyone who goes to Oviedo

Interesting visit where you can enjoy the works on display and the building where they are located.

Pleasant surprise at this spectacular museum in Oviedo, with much more inside than we expected (sincerely ).
Spacious and with a lot of material inside, it consists of different rooms, worth tasting calmly.
It has jewels that must be discovered in time... at least a couple of hours you can enjoy this space.
It should be noted that it is FREE and it is to be thanked to whoever corresponds the easy access to the culture with capital letters....
Another treasure in Oviedo, that city that always surprises and falls in love ❤️.

The fine-art museum contains excellent examples of Spanish art from 15th till 21 century. Probably the most notable fine art museum in Asturia and Cantabria. A few paintings from the "big names" (moderately interesting two portraits by Goya, more interesting series from El Greco and workshop, Melendez, very good Sorolla, Zuloaga, Piñole ) and many less known excellent artists. It is in 3 buildings, slightly non-trivial to navigate since the passage from the 2nd to the 3rd building (hosting old masters) is from the top floor of the 2nd building. Very friendly staff but mostly only Spanish-speaking. Note that they have a lunch break 14:00-16:00 on most days, but museum is gratis.

A very well designed space, with works by great painters.
We were very pleasantly surprised by the variety of works by Top-rated Spanish painters.
And we were surprised VERY BAD, that at 13.50 h. they kicked us all out (many people) because they close (!!! To eat!!!). You have to be pricks to make like any village merchandise.
Oviedo doesn't deserve it.

It is a Free Museum and free entrance, with an important collection of painters S XVIII-XIX-XX (Goya ,El Grecco last years), Zurbaran,Murillo ,Titian,Berruguete,Ribera,Altarpieces .
An important collection of
Sorollas, between 15 and 20, some Picasso, Barcelo, Dali and some Miro lithograph.
I recommend to go first thing 10:30 am to avoid crowds and take a plan of the museum, are three buildings joined with 2 doors.

Entrance Main door enlargement building. Climb stairs , see floors 0,1,2 going down to floor 0 by the elevator or in reverse .Continue the route to Casa Oviedo Portal , where the bathrooms are.
Go Floors 0,1,2 in the house Oviedo and in Floor 2 , room 7 of the House Oviedo there is connection with room 6 of the Palace of Velarde (third building) , it is a small passage and can go unnoticed .
In the Velarde Palace do the tour Floor 2,1 and 0
and you can walk out the other door

Nice if you like paintings. Entry was free and the building beautifully combines the new with the old. Definitely worth a visit.
