I had a wonderful afternoon on the tour. I only contacted Stephen a few hours before it started but his response was quick & clear and I was walking up the rock before I knew it. From the moment we started, Stephen filled us in on the wider history of the rock as well as the more practical aspects of living here. He was able to answer all our questions and I can't believe how fast 4 hours went, even with exhausted legs. I considered taxi tours but you just won't be able to see so much and experience the nature reserve for such great value as this. The walk was tiring at times and thankfully we had a cool day. It's a real achievement to get to O'Hara's battery (the highest point) then it's all downhill. It was also great to meet the others on the tour. I know we all had a fun time. My watch tells me it was the most floors I've walked in a day - 113 - and I believe it.

As others stated, five stars aren't enough. We chose a walking tour because we wanted our 14-year-old to learn about Gibraltar first hand. What I didn't anticipate was a guide that is clearly doing this job for the love of history and his home. This isn't a boxed tour. Stephen is passionate and knowledgeable about the nature preserve and the past and present of Gibraltar. The tour is more or less vistor led. Stephen moves at your pace - if you want to chat, he chats. If you want quiet, he respects that.
I really can't say enough about the wonderful experience and the memories I will take home.
Note, as others said, the walk is a challenge, and water is nice to have for sure.
The tour itself has lovely greenery. The suspension bridge has the option to walk around it for those preferring not to walk across. You will see a lot of monkeys and they pay little attention to people unless you try and feed them so no worries about them, the views are top notch and include Africa, the Atlantic, Mediterranean, Spain, and of course Gibraltar.
Don't hesitate to book with Stephen!

I read about Stephen on Trip Advisor and booked the tour , Stephen is professional and he is knowledgeable about Gibraltor explaining as you go , we chose a hike that was challenging but there are options which Stephen discussed with us . We saw my the famous monkeys , beautiful sky lines and sights , would highly recommend Stephen for your trip to the upper rock .

Our family had a fantastic day with Stephen touring the rock. With the weather forecast looking like rain and winds - I was certain that it would not happen. Stephen however said he would be happy to go if we wanted to - he understood for many the trip to the Rock is one time and it was the chance to walk it or not. We were grateful he was willing - the day turned out to be windy with only a few spots of rain.
On the trip we saw numerous monkeys, fascinating history and were rewarded with expansive views of the harbor, of the town, of the Med and of Africa.
Stephen is what you want in a guide - someone who facilitates an easy conversation. Someone who adapts his framework of the tour to cover the things you are most interested in. He takes the pace of the group. We saw places I would not have thought to have explored. He is a wealth of knowledge and a genuinely enjoyable person with whom to experience the Rock.
I wholeheartedly endorse Stephen’s Upper Rock Tour with Walk Gibralter.

Best tour experience in Gibraltar! My husband and I had visited Gibraltar before and had done one of the little van tours. This time we went with our 11 year old son and decided to try the walking tour - we saw Gibraltar in a whole new light and saw so many things that we just didn’t have access to on our previous visit. Stephan was an amazing guide - very friendly and personable but also so full of knowledge! We not only got historical information but Stephan was also able to tell us about current Gibraltar, how things have changed, and what it is like to live there. He was great about taking rests if needed and was a good judge of our physical abilities - we got to take the Mediterranean Steps route which was a difficult hike but SO WORTH THE VIEW! Our 11 year old had no problems with the physical demands. Definitely take Stephan’s recommendation to bring water. It was a cool day when we did our tour, but went through 2L of water between the 3 of us! Highly recommend this tour - it was the highlight of our entire trip! I would do it again!

After learning in the morning that the cable cars were out of order, I spontaneously booked a private tour with Stephen and it was the best decision I could’ve made. I learned so much about Gibraltar and its history and could ask any question that came to my mind. In the 4 hours I didn’t only get to see beautiful nature but also had fantastic conversations with Stephen. The experience certainly trumped my expectations and most definitely a walk by myself.

We joined Stephen on an expansive tour of the Rock of Gibraltar. He was an unbelievable guide who enthusiastically shared the history of Gibraltar as we climbed the "rock." The tour began at the library ramp and was a full day of hiking the more difficult route on the trail - which included the Mediterranean Steps. Honestly, if it wasn't for Stephen and the "fit Swiss family" motivating us to make it to the top it might have been more difficult. We were totally proud of our accomplishment and were able to see the cave, the tunnels, the skywalk, the monkeys, the guns and learn the history of Gibraltar. Just fascinating and with beautiful views no less. We definitely recommend Stephen and this wonderful Upper Rock Walking Tour!!

An excellent and highly recommended walking tour. Stephen is knowledgeable, informative and, above all, patient. He lets the client set the pace and does not seek to hurry anyone along. That was most welcome given that we chose to ascend via the Mediterranean steps route. My wife and I are not especially fit, but the path was accessible to us. The stepped sections were steep but there are rails and ropes to assist. Above all the views were stunning. In all, during the afternoon, we ascended the equivalent of about 120 floors. Sensible footwear and plenty of water are a must. We’ve done walking tours in many places but few if any have topped this one. I’d highly recommend Stephen and his tour.

Stephen was a excellent guide and very knowledgeable.
Had a great afternoon walking the med steps and the top of the rock.
It was a hard climb up , but Stephen made it enjoyable.
Can't recommend him enough.
