Took us 40 min to walk from Sorrento Center and I think it was worth it‬

‪Worth the walk‬

‪Take good shoes as the rocks are very slippery. Well worth the pretty walk down to the cove to experience the wave swells. Loved it. 💕‬

‪We read so much about this excursion that we had to do it for ourselves. First of all - west proper footwear!! Lots of walking up/down the road and paved part of the route from Bar del Capo … and then the rough path around the bath/cove itself! One step is literally 3 feet/1 meter high. We felt bad for uninformed tourists heading down in flip flops and sandals. They were in for trouble. We bought sturdy sandals made for water use - and we’re glad we did. The walk down from the street to the ruins area is steep - and you will have to trek back up after your visit. The ruins are fascinating but we did not explore much of them other than the top level. We wanted to get down into the water. Again, wear footwear that will allow you to walk over the rocks (both above and below the surface of the water). Many uninformed folks young and old struggled to navigate the rocks barefoot. We were so glad we heeded the advice of others on footwear. The experience in the water itself was amazing! We wore out swim suits and brought towels - also highly recommended. 3 of our group swam out under the land bridge and back. There is no life guard on duty so you are on your own. The only real disruption was a snorkeling group that came in and took over the water for a bit - but not a problem. Several younger people climbed the rocks and jumped into the water. And when boats came by on the ocean-side they created some wave action in the cove. Standing in the water, we imagined what likely took place there - Queen Joanna with or without her staff - frolicking around in the water and caves, perhaps. The walk back out is a bit strenuous - our group of four, aged 57-71, stopped twice on the way up to catch our breath and lower heart rates. Along with tours to the Amalfi Coast towns, Capri and Pompeii - a trip to and swim at Bagni Regina Giovanna is equally as memorable.‬

‪Es ist wunderschön dort. Wir waren gestern am 19.09.2023 dort und es gab einen Herren der gespannert hat und dabei mastubierte. Die Strandbar war zu, sodass wir keinen Bescheid geben könnten. ‬

‪A hidden gem‬

‪Got here for the sunrise, arrived about 6:45 and so pleased we did. Super quiet, had the place to ourselves until about 8am. Really easy to find, jumped on the bus from Sant Agnello. One of the highlights of our trip!‬

‪Nice but way too crowded‬

‪The ruins and the Bagni were nice to see and take a quick swim but the place was very crowded and thus not very enjoyable. There was no space to lay your stuff down or sitting on the rocks. Also there was a lot of trash (we also saw mice). Overall we would say that this place is overrated.‬

‪Great spot to swim‬

‪A beautiful swimming hole and beach, easily accessed via bus - get off at Capo Sorrento and follow the signs for the Roman ruins. The path down is quite steep and the swimming hole and the beach area are just rocks, so rock/reef shoes are best. The water was crystal clear and very calm. A lovely way to spend a few hours on a Summer's day.
You can also get a delicious panini at the alimentari at the bus stop!‬

‪De dag dat wij er waren was de zee heel wild. De veerdienst bleef ook in de haven van Sorrento, dus echt wild. Daarom niet gezwommen, terwijl sommige mensen dit wel deden. Maar meeste (90%) stonden langs de rand, waren aan het zonnebaden of alleen met de voeten in het water. Het risico om bij zwemmen tegen de rotsen op te slaan was erg hoog, ook was het moeilijk om terug te zwemmen vanwege de stroming. Wel een mooie plek en op loopafstand (op eigen risico langs de drukke weg) van ons hotel. Zeker een aanrader. Vanuit Sorrento ook met de bus te bereiken en dan alleen het laatste stuk lopen.‬

‪Must do if you are up for the climb and do not mind a few scrapes. ‬

‪My 5-year-old wanted a beach day and kept asking after many days of tours. Based on reviews of beaches on Trip Advisor this was the "beach" my husband and I wanted to visit. We were told that this is not the right place for our 5-year-old, would be too difficult for him with all the rocks.
Both my children were able to handle it easily, they are both very athletic and my 8-year-old is a rock climber - this was his heaven. Swimming and rock climbing combined.

There are two portions the grotto and all of the surrounding area, the grotto's swimming area is shaded, and the rock beach still gets sunlight.

I would not recommend for small children who often need assistance or if you are not athletic (the hike back up isn't easy either). 3 of the 4 of us ended up with scrapes/bleeding - they weren't that bad though - I do wish I had water shoes. ‬
