Yes, plenty of places there and within a short walking distance. It is the central square, spoilt for choice for eating and drinking. Central Sorrento is fairly compact. Easy to get about. We did not go to any clubs, so cannot give a specific recommendation.

Sorrento has no beaches, only board decking areas which are large and for 2 of us for 1 day with beds etc was 30 euoros. There is a tiny public area free but.....Sorrento is nice lots of eateries and bars etc. We were there for 1 week which is more then enough, then onto Amalfi for 3 days which is also more then enough. Naples for 4 days which we good for the airport. The Amalfi area is beautiful, we stayed in Amalifi. I would watch where you stay if you are out of town you may have a trek into town. Some of the places I looked at in Amalfi looked fab but remote so watch out. Same as Sorrento, we stayed in the center in both. Naples is a large dirty city, interesting enough but if you dont have a need I would look elsewhere, we stayed 4 days, 2 was enough. Capri is worth the visit, do the cable car. Pompei and Vesuvius are good and must be done. Ischi island is also worth a visit, I though better than Capri. Take a size up in clothes as the Pizza is lovley and cheap. hello, I cannot recommend that one but I DO CERTAINLY recommend the VIECA CANTINA... since 1800' wonderful place in the middle of the town in a pedestrian street..

you have buses along the coast..wonderful and there is a hoponhopoff red bus that only stops at these towns and not along the road.. whichever is fantastic.. the view out of this world ..bus is EU 6 for each leg...

Have your hotel book a car to pick you up at the airport.

YEs take the train at Sorrento station..probably it will take you less than 20 minutes... the name of the station u have to get down.. is Hercolaneum and there a bus will take you to the Vesuvius.. but check the ruins first.. at Herculaneum..same train takes you to Pompeii..just in a few minutes.. for the ruins.. I hired a guide..but I hired one as I wanted to see the frescoes at thebordello and they didnt do it becasue some parts are open in the afternoon..dedicate the whole day to the area..you can do it by train in minutes

just got back from 11 nights stay in Sorrento. I certainly wouldn't drive there. It's crazy! The tour guide we had for Pompei said there's a saying in Italy, "after me, everyone is first". She was referring to the queuing etiquette (or lack of it) but driving appeared to have the same rules. We took the trains to Pompei and Herculaneum. They're cheap and efficient but quite busy and hot. The bus along to Amalfi is quite hair-raising as I understand it. We opted for the ferry which was a very pleasant experience ...and cool/refreshing. Hope you have a lovely holiday/vacation there.
