Another place that contains part of the rich cultural history of Naples. The Church of Saints Philip and James has been an important reference point for the Neapolitan tailoring tradition and, in particular, for silk processing. Everything will be explained to you by the very prepared guides of the association " Breath Art". In particular, Giusy, our guide, was clear and engaging and responded willingly to the further questions proposed. I recommend everyone to visit this jewel!
N.B. the floor of the Church in terracotta tiles was made by the same ceramist of the cloister of Santa Chiara in Naples!

...it is said that it is one of the most beautiful and popular churches in Italy!!...the jewel of Spaccanapoli!!...in fact it is located right in the historic center of the city!!...it is the Church of Saints Philip and James!!...and it is the second most beautiful and popular church in Italy!!...it is said that it was built at the behest of the Silkworkers Guild!!...an association of artisans and merchants in the area...because here once they worked so much on silk!!...until then the industries had the upper hand!!...in fact the Church is dedicated to Saints Philip and James!!...because they are the protectors of silkworkers and skin diseases!!...but these Saints are in particular very revered by Neapolitans!!...I state that at the time of my passage the Church was closed!!...so I only saw the facade!!...which presents itself with the entrance door and on the side you can see the sculptures of Saints Philip and James!!...and above the statues of Religion and Faith!!...it is said that inside the building there is also a museum of the art of silk!!...and that many events and cultural activities are organized!!!!...especially at Christmas time!!...you can admire a wonderful nativity scene!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think it is really beautiful even inside this Church of Saints Philip and James in Naples!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!️DEFINITELY!!...

A beautiful discovery brought to light by the association Breath Art, as well as the most famous church of Santa Luciella dei Librai. Thanks to a prepared guide we discovered a new aspect related to Naples, that of the silk trade. A splendid altar and beautiful majolica brought to life make this visit absolutely recommended when visiting the city!

One of the first places visited in our stay in Naples, fascinating. At the entrance you are already amazed by the works on display, not to mention the fresco in the vault, absolutely visited.

While walking through the streets of Spaccanapoli I entered the church. Meno male che ho deciso di fare la visita... Guide Lisa was very kind, all the information is interesting and made me know a little better the history of Naples and a place not to be missed. Without a doubt, the visit is worth it. Thank you!

A thorough visit is very interesting despite the brevity given the work underway. The guide was spectacular and, in addition to his competence, he showed enthusiasm and the desire to do things and move forward. Thank you

This beautiful church is located in Spaccanapoli. The two statues outside are by the same sculptor who created the magnificent Veiled Christ in the Sansevero Chapel, Giuseppe San Martino.
The church of Saints Filippo and Giacomo is also called the art of silk as Naples was famous for the processing of silk and it is very interesting to take a guided tour of the basement of the church itself. The envelope is edited by a very active association, RESPIRIAMO ARTE, which also oversaw the restoration of the nearby church of Santa Luciella, very interesting to see as it is part of the numerous churches that bear witness to the very particular cult of the dead that was practiced in this city. Saint Lucia or Lucuella was the patron saint of piperneri, workers of piperno, the gray stone very present in Naples who, while working, risked their eyesight due to possible splinters of marble.

Trained and very good guides! Good experience! We also had the "experience" of being closed in the courtyard between the sacristy and the remains but we had fun and those who accompanied us overcame the embarrassment of a door closed by the wind 🔝
